Update 0.2.7: Desert Sandstorm! 🌪️
Survivor, brace yourself. The desert is growing more hostile. Today’s update introduces a powerful new dynamic threat alongside crucial performance optimizations and long-awaited bug fixes.
Here is everything you need to know about the latest patch.
💨 New Weather Event: Sandstorms
The scorching sun is no longer your only enemy. Sandstorms can now randomly sweep across the desert during daylight hours. You will need to seek shelter and fortify your base to survive them.
Blinding Winds: Visibility is drastically reduced during a storm.
Block the Sun: Extreme dust clouds block out daylight entirely.
Environmental Damage: The storm actively damages unprotected players.
Structural Decay: Low-tier buildings and exposed outdoor structures (like beds) will take damage if left unprotected.
🛠️ Building & UI Improvements
We have added visual updates to help you manage your settlements more efficiently.
Structural Health: Added clear visual cues showing how damaged a building is.
Demolition Hint: Added a new visual hint explaining how to destroy player-built structures.
Task Tracking Fix: Fixed a bug where "Active Tasks" disappeared from the notebook and the current tasks widget after loading a savegame.
⚡ Performance Optimizations
We are constantly working to make Scorching Desert run smoother. This patch focuses heavily on CPU optimization.
Smarter Ticks: Improved internal tick behavior for buildings, items, and certain foliage.
CPU Relief: Optimized overall CPU draw for various actors to provide more stable framerates.
