Hello people of the Unseen!
It’s that time of the month again where I, your highly productive, not at all lazy developer, yap at you about some brand new totally never before seen in any other game ever things related to Depths Unseen, as well as a fun fact that I’m sure everyone enjoys.
Okay, in all seriousness, I’ve got a lot done this month, though all this productivity has been a little… taxing on me, but other than that everything has been… good enough.
I want to thank the folks who joined the Discord server, but also my family and friends who kept me going during the rough months. Depths Unseen wouldn’t be the same without you.
If you want to join the Discord server, please do! I am always looking for more people to chat, and discuss Depths Unseen with. And as a bonus, people on the server get not only exclusive sneak peeks at things to come, but also early looks at the stuff featured in these dives!
Here’s the link, hope you have fun!

Anyways, enough mental health, and Discord plugging, it’s time to make the dive!
Shortly after the last dive was published, Winston managed to get CALI back online (check out the previous dive if you missed it), and upon getting her back online…
Huzzah! Welcome to the Staff Centre!
That’s right, Winston has now step foot into the quietest part of The Lab, and the main hub of Chapter II! The centre itself was once a calm and serene area within The Lab, a place for people to rest, and reflect upon the day they’ve had… and now, it’s your turn to do the same.
Another thing within this part of The Lab is a new… uh… robot? Friend? All- whatever it is it’s a stupid automatic vacuum cleaner that… does what all automatic vacuums do.
Anyways, the centre is your new home… until you can find the way out, which this area could be a huge part of… maybe it even houses the key to your escape…
But you won’t know until Chapter II releases!
So, let’s talk about cubes!
Some of you may have seen this already, but I posted a video on YouTube showing off the brand new Code Cubes coming to Depths Unseen!
These cubes were installed across The Lab to help maintenance crews cut/divert power to certain systems, allowing them to access certain mechanisms without much issue.
These cubes, being attached to a huge power grid, means that sometimes… when people who… I don’t know… aren’t licensed mechanics try to divert power with them… It never ends well, so just keep your eyes on the symbol, and try not to accidentally restart your heart.
The keen eyed among you may have noticed that Winston was in an especially green part of The Lab in that teaser.
The area in question is none other than the Maintenance Tunnels!
A vast, and especially dark part of The Lab, only lit up by the occasional dimming light and flickering green machines.
With this… darkness, comes a problem, in the event of a blackout, the way forwards can be especially treacherous! Doesn’t help with all the spikes!
Oh, did I mention this place has the most unreliable lights in the entirety of The Lab?
Probably should’ve told Winston that before he- wait where did he go?
And here we are! The end of this month’s dive. Let’s end on a high note!
Did you know:
Depths Unseen has an asset made within the incredibly useful, impossibly artistic… Microsoft… Paint? Yes, that’s right! There exists an asset within Depths Unseen entirely made with MS Paint, the asset in question is a giant black box known internally as “There isn’t an issue”.
This box was made to cover up some leftover text on the starting screen of Chapter I before it was eventually changed to remove the leftover text before the Early Access release of the game.
The same text that I readded recently.
“There isn’t an issue” was then used within the environments when it came time to remake all of them, and to this day it’s Depths Unseen’s most used environmental asset!
Topping the likes of the common crate and oil drum.
But with that, this ends our fourth dive into the unseen.
Hope everyone had a nice month, and a great time reading this little piece of word vomit.
See you all next month, when Santa comes to town!
Have fun with Depths Unseen!
