The Steam demo hasn't been updated for a bit while some testing was in progress, but now I am ready to dump everything all at once!

This new update features the following :

  • Changed the way turning in place works for keyboard/gamepad users. Tapping a directional key will no longer turn the player in place. Instead, holding Control, LT or RT will lock the player in place, and the movement keys will turn the player in 4 directions. This "turn in place" key can be rebound in the settings by rebinding "Control". This means that the slight delay which allowed for turning in place before has been removed, which should make movement feel smoother in general (and easier for those who weren't turning in place).

  • Added version info to the title screen. This should make it easier to check if you're on the latest update.

  • Added a new crafting station: the Prep Table. This can be crafted at the Workbench. It is used to prepare ingredients for the Drying Rack

  • Added a new processing object: the Drying Rack. This can be used to process items crafted at the Prep Table. For now, it is used to make several kinds of food products from meat and various seasonings.

  • Added "Manga Mode" to the graphics settings. Enable it in the graphics settings if you want to feel like a horror manga character.

  • Added icons to most item pickup messages

  • Optimized the game files, bringing the total game file size down by about 200MB (18%)

  • Completely refactored all the code for both the Tax Man and Travelling Merchant. It will now be a lot easier for me to expand their item lists in the future. The merchant now only buys at 1.5x, and the items which had wrong prices were fixed. He now states the names of the items in the dialogue box (just like the Tax Man).

  • Updated the Tax Man to have more seasonal variance, and to request the new seasonal cash crops. He also no longer requests animal products.

  • Updated the Travelling Merchant to request a wider range of items, with seasonal variance. He can now also ask for some less common crops like fruit tree products and task-unlocked crops.

  • Reworked the notification system. It should now be less intrusive, more consistent, handles map transitions better, and should be less likely to give repeat notifications.

  • Significantly increased crafting speed for all recipes, and replaced the "success" sound to be less intrusive.

  • Improved loading times when moving between areas

  • Fixed the new farm cutscene not triggering on old save files.

  • Updated the fishing animation and added more feedback effects

  • Added several types of Acorns. These are dropped by all forageable trees, and can be used to plant their respective trees on the farm or ranch. The current drop rate is 15% per tree.

  • Updated how crafting recipe information is displayed. Recipes for equipment now show all stat modifiers and effects, and all other items now show the exact item description, and will update automatically if their item description is changed. These changes will only affect new saves, but going forward, changes to crafting descriptions will now carry over to any saves made after this update.

  • Fixed the auto-scroll bug in mail/crafting/task menus

  • Slightly increased the effect of defense and M. defense. This should lead to a very slight reduction in all damage taken.

  • Reworked most of the gift-giving menu back-end, which should fix a lot of issues with incorrect friendship being displayed and gifts raising the friendship of the wrong NPC.

  • Fixed some seasonal crops not being plant-able in the demo

  • Salt can now spawn in the beginner mine, and spawns more often in the mall mine

  • Added location and level info to the save file menu

  • Added text sound toggle to the settings

  • Fixed bathing not always fully restoring HP/MP
