An update is coming in a few days that opens more modding in MateEngine. This post walks you through what is new and how you can join in. MateEngine was built for the community and I have been reading your wishes on Discord and the GitHub request hub. Let us make cute things together.
What is coming
Voice packs and sound packs
Replace any sound in MateEngine. UI clicks, drag sounds, dance cues, system voices. Use Vocaloid or UTAU for adorable voice sets or swap only a few UI sounds. Your choice, your vibe.
Custom dance trails
Change the dance trails to your own textures and particle looks. Perfect for creators who love particles and shiny effects. Make it soft, make it sparkly, make it yours.
Behavior tweaks without code
Create data driven mods that adjust how MateEngine behaves. This keeps things simple to install and safe for everyone.
Safety first
No custom code inside Steam distributed mods. No C Sharp and no Udon at runtime. This protects users from security risks. If you plan a mod that needs custom code, publish it as an open source add on on GitHub so people can review it. Transparency keeps the community safe and happy.
How to get ready
• Organize your sounds as wav or ogg and name them by the keys we will document.
• Prepare your textures or particle presets for trails.
• Write a clear modinfo file with name, author, and description.
• Test in a clean install folder so users get a smooth first run.
Timeline
The update rolls out in a few days. More modding features will follow step by step.
Feedback
Drop ideas in the comments here, on Discord, or on GitHub. Tell us what you want next. Cute UI sounds, new trail styles, or creator tools. We listen.
Thank you for supporting MateEngine. Let us build something fun together.
