DLC Gameplay Preview

While some of you Dustlanders may already know the basic gist of the new DLC, this post will delve a little deeper into the unique mechanics of the Sheol map.

1. Delve Into the Underground
   In the Sheol DLC, you can use subway stations scattered across the map to enter the Underground, a vast network of tunnels, caverns, and subterranean cities.
   Surface: The last vestiges of civilization have fallen. Danger lurks around every corner.
   Underground: A few hardscrabble cities hold on, providing rest and respite for your crew.
   
2. New Terrain: Volcanoes & Glaciers
   The new map adds two new biomes with extreme effects on your engine temp and horsepower. It'll take a master driver and a decked-out truck to pass through these areas unscathed.

3. New Gameplay: Ruin Exploration
   In every corner of the Underground, you'll find Ruins hiding both danger and opportunity. Dispatch a team of truckers to uncover secrets, battle new enemies, and reap the rewards!Ruin Entrance
   
   Expedition Prep
   Before entering a Ruin, you can pick which truckers to dispatch and assign supplies from your truck's inventory.
   Each trucker has a limit on how much they can carry, so you'll need to carefully consider what to bring along.
   
   Ruin Exploration
   Use AP to explore the Ruin. With limited visibility, you'll uncover more of the map as you explore. You can split into small teams to cover more ground, or concentrate your forces to overcome a powerful enemy.
   
   Ruin Combat
   While exploring a Ruin, your crew may encounter enemies, entering into a new turn-based combat mode.
   1. Entering into an unexplored tile may lead to you getting ambushed, allowing the enemy to act first.
      
      With the right skills, on the other hand, you could be the one getting the drop on them.
      
   2. Combat Rules
      During Ruin combat, you control each of your truckers individually. Each of them has their own AP, HP, and Attack, determined by their attributes. Your truckers will have multiple actions they can take, all of which cost AP.
      Common Actions
      • Move: Spend AP to close in on an enemy or get some distance.
      • Light/Heavy Attack:If a trucker is in close range, they can spend AP to melee attack an enemy.
        Light Attacks cost 1 AP. Heavy Attacks cost all of a trucker's AP, dealing more damage the more AP spent.
      • Shoot: A trucker with a gun can spend AP to shoot an enemy from a distance. Every shot counts in the Ruins; unlike regular battles, your truckers will need to carry their Ammo on their person.
      • Throw: Truckers equipped with a Projectile can throw it, dealing damage to all enemies in a single space.
        
      Enemy Behavior
      Once you've ended your turn, your enemies will get a chance to act. You'll encounter all sorts of enemies in the Ruins, each with their own tactics. Melee enemies will try to close in on you as fast as possible, whereas ranged ones will be happy to snipe at you from a distance.
      
      Victory and Death
      Defeat all enemies to win the battle and divvy up the loot!
      But don't get reckless: if a trucker's HP drops to 0, they're dead for good!
      If all members of a team are dropped to 0 HP, you'll lose the battle, the team, and everything they were carrying.
      For your whole crew to come out alive, you'll need to think about resource allocation, positioning, and much more.
