Yo-ho-ho, sea dogs!

It’s time to mend the rigging, sharpen your blades, and stock up on rum! Today on April 23, we raise the anchor and launch Curse of Pirates into Early Access on Steam. Thanks to all the brave captains who supported our course and added the game to their wishlists!

In Early Access, you'll get:

  • 2 massive regions to explore. Try to conquer them without ending up as fish food!

  • 2 bosses await at the end of your journey. Face the ruthless Vice Admiral and the legendary Kraken in a fight to the death.

  • 2 "Cursed Captain" mini-bosses whose souls are forever bound to these waters. Do you dare to summon them?

  • 2 types of ships. Each vessel has its own character and manner of cutting through the waves of the Forgotten Ocean.

  • 3 loyal crew members. These charismatic rogues will help you turn the tide of battle—just embrace their unique gifts.

  • Over 40 abilities. Combine various skills wisely to turn your ship into a floating fortress.

  • Over 15 map markers. Use them to assemble unimaginable and lethal ability combos.

  • 13 enemy types will swarm your deck in overwhelming numbers. These spawn of the abyss never tire!

  • 5 types of map quests. Complete them during your voyage to grow stronger.

  • Dynamic weather conditions. Adapt to the whims of the Sea Devil. Any element can become an ally or an enemy.

  • A Leaderboard, where your total kills and collected resources turn into a bounty on your head,

  • A Shipping journal, which shows unlocked marks/items, description of enemies and abilities.

Who’s on board:

  • Astrid Flameheart. This fiery vixen is the daughter of the legendary pirate Azrael. A true master of the flame. Upgrade her abilities to surround yourself with a ring of infernal fire and endless explosions. Your enemies will vanish forever, swallowed by pools of blazing tar.

  • Lord Darkbown. A cursed skeleton, a spirit of vengeance doomed to roam the seas forever. Accept his toxic aid, and your enemies will rot in clouds of thick green venom before they even reach your hull.

  • Zar'kul The Mad. This scaled eccentric knows the true meaning of madness — and he’s earned the right to it! Watch out for his signature "Curse" effect: it deals massive damage that spreads like a plague among all who are marked by his dark power.

What’s changed since Demo:

  • Build system reworked: limited ability slots, slots configuration depends on the hull version of the ship,

  • Abilities for Astrid, Lord Darkbown, and Zar'kul have been fully reworked,

  • Meta-progression redesigned: You now unlock abilities, modifiers, and Marks instead of upgrading raw power,

  • Max ability level increased: active abilities — up to 10, passive abilities — up to 5.

  • Removed the neutral branch of the cannon upgrade.

  • A unified resource — “Treasures” — converts all gathered gold, wood, and stone after each run,

  • "Treasures" can be spent not only on ship upgrades in the Hub, but also to unlock Shipwrecks and Chests.

  • Lots of new Marks,

  • Two types of resource points - Shipwrecks and Treasure Chests. Visiting the first one will boost your stats, opening the second will give you markings,

  • After the first pass through the map, try to complete several in a row, while maintaining your abilities.

  • By the new "Attention" system while killing enemies you increase Dominion's attention. When their attention is at its maximum, a dangerous boss goes after you at the end of the map.

  • By the new "Hordes" system as you complete each "Attention" stage, a horde of enemies will descend upon you. Good luck surviving this carnage!

  • After defeating the first boss of the map, you’ll face a ghost horde. Let’s see how long you last!

Want to know what awaits you in these damned seas? Here's what our Voodoo shaman predicted from the fish bones:

Our journey is just beginning, and every salty soul is worth their weight in gold in the misty waters of the seven seas. Let us know about all the difficulties and bugs you notice on the horizon, write suggestions and wishes.

And add Curse of Pirates to your wishlist, follow the game page, and of course drop by our port tavern on Discord for sailor’s tales over a mug of hot grog.

Yo-ho-ho, see you on the high seas!
