Welcome to the world of MegaGum!

👋 Hello everyone!

We hope you’re doing well.

Over the past few months, we’ve shared quite a lot about MegaGum through our dev diaries on social media, including mechanics, characters, and systems.

Today, we wanted to take a step back. Not to show new features, but to explain how we got here.

🌍 1. Building the world of MegaGum

Everything started with a simple idea: what if chewing gum became the foundation of an entire world?

It is not just a candy, but a real material capable of powering cities, shaping environments, and even creating life. That’s how the GUM Tower was born, a massive structure where everything is produced, studied, and controlled.

At first glance, everything feels colorful, almost welcoming but very quickly, you start to feel that something is off. A world that looks fun, but where something doesn’t quite sound right.

Each area of the Tower is designed to play with that contrast and make you question it a little more every step of the way.

⚙️ 2. Gameplay and progression

Early in development, we set ourselves a simple rule: if Gum is at the heart of the world, it has to be at the heart of the gameplay—driving progression and, above all, adding real value.

So our features revolve around Gum:

  • weapons use it;

  • enemies are made of it;

  • the environment reacts to it as well.

In MegaGum, every upgrade changes the way you play:

  • you move differently;

  • you interact with the environment in new ways;

  • you approach combat from a different angle.

We didn’t want a classic progression system where you just get stronger, your way of playing is what evolves.

👧 3. Uja, at the center of the story

You play as Uja, a teenager trying to understand what really happened to her parents.

She enters the Tower for one reason: to find answers.

During development, we always wanted to keep things simple. Even in a world as strange as MegaGum, her goal remains deeply human. She doubts, she questions, but she keeps moving forward, and that’s what matters most.

🎨 4. A visual style built on contrast

Visually, MegaGum is inspired by a retro futuristic style with strong 80s and 90s color influences.

It’s colorful, readable, and intentionally highly stylized.

We focused a lot on:

  • clear silhouettes;

  • simple shapes;

  • bold but controlled color palettes.

The goal is to make everything easy to understand at a glance, while at the same time this light visual style creates a contrast with what the game is actually telling.

The world feels fun, but underneath there’s a real story unfolding.

❤️ What’s next?

We still have a lot to show you, and many surprises are waiting inside the GUM Tower.
