Welcome back, Knights!
We’ve been quiet over the past few months for one specific reason: to rebuild War of Wheels from the ground up. The experience we gained during Early Access showed us that, to deliver a solid game, it wasn’t enough to simply add content—we needed to redesign the very core of the game. Here are the technical details of this new direction.
Our work has focused on transforming the game from a fragmented arcade experience into a complete and persistent gameplay loop.
Tier System (Power Classes): We’ve implemented a power hierarchy for vehicles and enemies. There is now real technical progression: you can evolve your car through different tiers, which affect stats, upgrade slots, and survivability.
Economy and Fame Management: A progress-saving system tied to two currencies is in development: Fame, which unlocks access to more difficult missions and areas, and Coins, needed to upgrade vehicles in the Garage.
Mission System Integration: Battles will feature a revamped mission system with specific objectives and gameplay variations.
Artificial Intelligence Overhaul: Bots and Bosses have been rewritten to scale based on the mission tier, ensuring a balanced challenge that is never randomly punishing.
The foundation is complete; the next steps will be:
Closing the Game Loop: Integration of final menus, save management, and progression through the campaign’s “Acts.”
Story and Events: Adding dialogues and sequences that will provide context for the missions, along with the creation of new dynamic in-game events.
Final Optimization: Full implementation of controller support, refinement of menu navigation, and performance optimization.
