The music player widget has been added to a new beta branch! Just insert the access code “betabetabeta” to give it a spin. (right-click on the app in Steam > Properties > Game Versions & Betas)
It includes the first (public) pass at the music player, which lets you play music in a tile. The music player keeps playing when you return to the layout preview screen, so you can keep enjoying music uninterrupted, even if you want to update your settings or layout.
A new option was added to the menu to let you link the music player's audio volume to the global controls or keep them separate.
The music player has a few visual modes you can use, including playlist, carousel, image collection, and equalizer bars. Many visual modes also support themes, allowing you to change the color scheme as you like.
To add music you can select a folder or a playlist within the tile. You can also save those audio sources within the widget settings to reuse in future sessions.
There are a couple of minor bug fixes in this patch as well, related to dragging and dropping the web embed tile in the layout preview. I also fixed an issue with frames that caused overlap with some menus.
Additionally, I added an indication in the UI to let you known when the app is still scanning folders you've just added. When dragging and dropping multiple folders that contain many files it may take a while to scan, and now you will have more insight into that.
The below example shows the Remux indication running along side of the new folder scan indication.
Here are some sample images of the Music player in action with the Othercide soundtrack. You can only have one music player at a time, but you can cast it's visual contents to a receiver tile if you like.
Let me know how the music player works out for you, and thanks for visiting.
