Greetings fellow chefs. We've been hard at work in the kitchen, and will have something quite special for all to taste here in just a little bit, but decided that we should probably pop in for a bit of a heads-up for any modders out there that were also cooking stuff up. (Not that you can't read this if you aren't - you probably just won't care that much.)

To cut the fat, Version 1.7.0 will contain a significant shift in the modding API that anything other than standard level or cosmetic packs will likely be affected. A lot of the previous menu behaviors were mostly hard-coded to act pretty much how they were shown in Vanilla. In order to make the API more flexible to accomplish some of the new things that we want to add, we ended up re-working the way a lot of interactions were driven. Fortunately, the structure of the json files is identical so nothing needs to be re-made per-say; it's just that a couple of finer details will need to be tweaked. To help out with the transition, an additional write-up for the changes has been included as the first link under the Mod Docs page. The v1.7.0 save is 100% cross-compatible with the v1.6.1 save, so you can bounce between versions as needed with no ill effects.Do note that the change set is also currently not 100% comprehensive for the full v1.7.0 update, but we will continue to update the beta branch on Monday each week any API changes occur up until that version release. The documents inside the game will continue to be added and improved as well. (No new actual gameplay stuff will be added until the full v1.7.0 release, though. The beta is just the API preview.)So, TLDR - v1.7.0 will break more advanced mods, but a preview is available on the beta branch if you're making one of those and want to get a jump on it.As usual, drop us a line for any bugs that need squishing, features you need, technical support, or anything else that comes to mind. Except relationship advice. Can't help with that.
