I just wanted to give a huge thank you to everyone who has tried the Word Play demo, and wishlisted the game on Steam. The demo has been downloaded more than 20,000 times and the game has almost 20,000 wishlists which means it's in a great position for launch.
Speaking of which... I'm planning to launch the game in June, shortly after Steam Next Fest ends. So that means I've got a few more weeks to make the rest of the game! Gulp!
What's in the rest of the game? Well... the demo has just one difficulty mode and about 25 perks (i.e the modifiers, upgrades, and gifts). The final game has more rounds, over 100 perks, more special rounds, more music, more skins, more everything! I hope you're excited to check it out.
I've seen all your feedback on Discord, Bluesky, YouTube, my email inbox, and the Steam forum, and I'm working hard to implement it. Going forward it would be awesome to put it in this new public Discord forum so I can more easily track your issues, requests, bugs, ideas, and... of course... words that you totally think should be in the dictionary!
I know that a common request is a translated / localised version of the game. I don't have any immediate plans to offer a non-English version, but I'll see what I can do after launch. It's not impossible, but I am just one man!
I did notice a few bugs, so I just pushed version 1.01 of the demo with a few fixes:
- You can no longer trigger infinite refreshes with a controller!
- The "If the word has two of the same letters next to each other..." modifier now works properly
- The Glass Tile no longer causes tiles to bug out
