How to do everything wrong, and still be proud of it

If you're reading this, you probably already know about the Cognition Method. We've been working on it for around six years, and I can honestly say it's the most important thing I've ever created. Mostly because this game reflects who I am. It's filled with the same things that define me.

But the game turned out to be anything but simple. My team and I wanted to create something real, a high-quality experience with strong visuals, a deep and cohesive story, meaningful twists, immersive sound design, and full voice acting. Even though each of us is a professional in our own field, building an entire game from start to finish is a completely different challenge. For all of us, this is our first truly serious project, and we wanted to master it, to create something we could genuinely be proud of.We worked on it after our day jobs for years, without thinking about profit, without breaks, without weekends. During that time, like many others, I had to move between different countries, go through the crisis in the game industry, and switch between companies and projects. At times, it was exhausting. But through all of it, one thing remained constant- working on the Cognition Method.During development, we reached out to different publishers. Most of the time, the response was the same: the game wasn't considered commercially viable because of its genre. Some said they wouldn't publish a game without guns. But we never wanted weapons in this game. Others told us we were taking too long. But we wanted to keep going until it was truly finished. All of this led us to where we are now: no publisher, no large audience, just the game we love. It's a very niche project, known mostly to you and our Discord community. But to me, this game is pure art- the reason I got into gamedev in the first place. And it always will be.It's exactly what it's meant to be- a reflection of the people who created it.And if one day it resonates with even a single person among thousands of other games, I’ll be truly happy.Sincerely yours, Timur and Team Cognition
