Dev Log #1: Operation Codename [Pretzel]

Dear players,

Since the release of Velaria's Candlebloom, we’ve been continuously polishing the game, focusing on fixing various bugs to provide a smoother and more stable gameplay experience. Nearly all bugs have now been fixed, and we’re working on completing voiceovers, proofreading text, and improving multilingual localization. With these ongoing improvements, we aim to further enhance the narrative and presentation of the game.

We're also working on the first major DLC, which includes entirely new content we hope you’ll enjoy.

Without further ado, let’s dive into the highlights!

New Character Revealed: Elwin

Hello everyone!

I'm Traianus, and today I’d like to briefly introduce our upcoming DLC. I’ve also invited one of our artists, Viall (illustrator for Tuantu, Elwin, etc.), to share a look into the development and some fun behind-the-scenes stories.

Below are Elwin’s concept artworks—his full sprite is still in progress.

This character first appeared in the July 2024 test version, but based on community feedback—where players felt the character didn’t align with the story and had confusing level mechanics—we decided to remove him for the sake of the player experience.

In this DLC, we’ve completely redesigned Elwin’s character and related levels. After listening to feedback, we want his levels to be more engaging and unique.

Elwin is inspired by archetypes like Frankenstein or Leatherface—representing doctors, transformation, humanity, and fear. But given the game’s cute and suspenseful tone, we’ve avoided gore and instead express horror through a gentler, symbolic lens.

Elwin is based on one of my deepest personal fears: dentistry and barbers. Some of my real experiences were disastrous—spasms from pain, on-the-spot consults, tooth extractions like tug-of-war, and improperly treated nerves.

That genuine fear has been channeled into the game. Elwin is a doctor whose role is both symbolic of terror and a protector of the player—after all, doctors heal.

We've redesigned enemies and items accordingly—moving dentures, cold surgical tools, the chilling sound of dental drills... We hope these familiar yet unsettling elements create a meaningful dialogue with fear in the game.

Elwin's Design Inspiration

Hi! I’m Viall, and I’d like to share a bit about the inspiration behind Elwin’s artwork.

When I first learned Elwin had a dual nature, I decided to hide the horror within a seemingly ordinary appearance. The contradiction of "order hiding chaos" defines his presence.

To show his melancholic aura, I gave him a slim, youthful frame. White was chosen to reflect the doctor's identity. To highlight horror elements, I added props like a dental tool kit and an external heart circulation system. Klein blue was used to make these tools appear neat and proper at first glance—creating a visual tension with their unsettling nature.

His upper body features a formal white coat, but sharp surgical tools are hidden at his waist—the most common place to conceal weapons. The meaning of these tools? Perhaps not just for intimidation... A brooch that seems decorative is actually a pulsing liquid heart.

Everything embedded in his clean silhouette is a subtle metaphor—the source of fear hides just outside your initial perception.

Are you ready to uncover the next part of this adventure?

More exciting content is on the way—including new characters, the orphanage origin story, and more DLC features. Stay tuned!

Even though it's still a work in progress, it's so beautiful that I couldn't wait to share it with everyone.
