DevLog #17 - Rise and Work | Daily Routines in Chinese Frontiers

Builders!

Another day begins in Chinese Frontiers, and while construction might be at the core of your experience, it’s far from the only thing on your to-do list. Life in your village is full of rhythm and variety - woven together by more than just bricks and blueprints.

There’s a whole world to engage with - gathering resources, farming, fishing, cooking, and crafting. These daily routines are what truly bring your world to life. And in Chinese Frontiers, every task counts.

More than just building

Building is important - but it’s just one part of the bigger picture. Your day might start deep in the forest, chopping bamboo or collecting edible plants. Maybe you’ll head into the mountains to mine for stone, iron, or jade. Or perhaps you’ll cast a line into a quiet stream and bring home a fresh catch.

Exploration plays just as big a role. You’ll venture through winding caves, lush forests, valleys, and other remote corners of China. Each environment offers new sights, resources, and challenges. Whether it's a sunlit rice field or a fog-drenched mountainside, every area invites you to explore further.

And back home, there’s work to be done. You’ll tend to fields, care for pigs and chickens, and make sure everything keeps moving. Your crops - like rice and other regional plants - support not just your household, but the entire community.

Create, Cook, Decorate

Once your resources are gathered, it’s time to get creative. In your workshops, stone is shaped, tools are crafted, and iron is forged. Over in the kitchen, regional dishes are prepared - meals that do more than restore strength. They’re a part of life and a way to care for those around you.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀  ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀

It’s because the village is yours to shape. Lanterns and statues, banners and bells, carved gates and sculpted figures - all can be placed, refined, and arranged to reflect your style. Decoration is more than beauty - it’s the identity!

Work together, grow together

As your settlement expands, teamwork becomes essential. Assign workers to key tasks, plan infrastructure, and build a village that reflects your vision. Homes, roads, workshops, storage buildings - they all take shape through careful coordination.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀  ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀

And then there’s the Great Wall. Monumental in both size and meaning, it demands everything you’ve learned - planning, patience, and skill. It’s not just another building project. It’s your legacy, carved in stone.

Build Your Own Routine

So whether you’re decorating a lantern, harvesting rice, forging tools, or overseeing a towering wall section - it all starts with rising and working.
