With the release of Patch 1.6, the Performance Update, we promised to dedicate ourselves to eliminating those frustrating game CRASHES and FREEZES. While we've seen a noticeable reduction in these issues, we understand that they still persist for some of you, and we want to assure you that our commitment to eradicating them remains absolute. Here is how we want to achieve that.
Operation: Bug Squashing - Your Help Needed!
To truly squash these remaining CRASHES and FREEZES, we need your help! We're reaching out to our dedicated players to join us in this crucial endeavor.
- Want to get hands-on and help us directly? If you're eager to work alongside us in identifying the root causes of these problems, please email us at [email protected]. We'll grant selected players access to a special beta branch. This branch is specifically designed to track any possible problems with greater precision, giving us a much better chance of pinpointing the source of the issues. We especially encourage players who are actively encountering crashes and/or freezes to reach out! We will be offering rewards to players who actively participate in testing. Those granted access to the special beta branch who provide consistent and helpful feedback will receive either a free Steam key to our previous title, Tower of Time, or a digital copy of the Dark Envoy Original Soundtrack and Artbook. We value your contribution to improving Dark Envoy.
- Continued reminder for everyone: If you experience any in-game problems, please remember to hit the "Report Issue" button within the game. Additionally, sending us the crash logs found on your local drive at `C:\Users\(your user name)\AppData\Local\Temp\Event Horizon\DarkEnvoy\Crashes` to [email protected] is invaluable in our investigation. In the very near future, we will be uploading a new build to Steam that includes enhanced "Report Issue" functionalities from our development perspective. This update will provide us with more detailed information when you submit a report, further aiding our ability to diagnose and resolve problems.
- We understand that encountering issues can be frustrating, but we want to assure you that we are here and actively working to address these problems. Before considering leaving a negative review based on technical difficulties, we sincerely ask that you reach out to us through the channels described above – either via email for beta participation or by sending your crash reports. Your direct feedback and assistance are the most powerful tools we have in resolving these issues swiftly and effectively.
Looking Ahead - What's Next for Dark Envoy?
We're also diligently working on future updates, and while we can't provide a detailed roadmap with specific dates for 2025, we wanted to give you a sneak peek at what we're focusing on:
- Steam Deck Support: We're aiming for official Steam Deck certification! This update will not only make the game fantastic on Valve's handheld but will also bring further performance improvements for all our PC players.
- Moving to the Latest Unity Version: This upgrade will bring a host of benefits, including performance enhancements, stability improvements, and access to the latest engine features.
- Eliminating Root Causes of Crashes and Freezes: As mentioned earlier, this remains a top priority, and your help is crucial!
- Additional Languages: We're excited to announce that experienced fan localization teams are working on bringing Dark Envoy to more players around the world. Expect at least Italian and Brazilian Portuguese!
- Bug Fixes: Rest assured, we have a comprehensive list of bugs we're actively tracking and working to eliminate one by one.
- Quality of Life (QoL) Improvements: We're listening to your feedback and are dedicated to implementing various QoL enhancements to improve your overall experience.
- Version 2.0 - Anniversary Edition: We're planning all updates in 2025 to lead to a Version 2.0 to coincide with Dark Envoy's second anniversary. Hence, we'll do our best to be ready by October 24, 2025. No matter what, be sure Version 2.0 will happen sooner or later. We have big plans for this milestone!

We recognize that our initial launch wasn't the experience we envisioned for you, but we are fully committed to a journey of continuous improvement and significant enhancements. Just as other games have evolved and ultimately delivered on their promise, we are dedicated to reaching the full potential of Dark Envoy.
