Hey everyone!

I just published the v0.4_demo update, and it is a big one. First of all, I want to thank everybody again for your continued support - it really is a blast working on Primordial Empire with this community.

With this update, the Demo will be feature-complete. This doesn't mean that there will be no new features - they will be released as Early Access is slated to arrive in Q4 2026. We still have a lot of exciting features to look forward to, like the upgrade and research system, the world map with multi-colony gameplay (incl. trade and conquest), a campaign, a freeplay-mode, and more maps, more creatures, more everything!

A sneak peek at the genome system that I'm working on right now.

Now for what's in this last big update for the demo - the most exciting one is language support for French, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean. Since this took a bit longer than expected (localization is hard), a small bonus feature slipped in with this update - oops! It's an overhaul of the Goodie Boxes.

They're now called "Archive spores" and opening them brings up a panel that allows you to choose between various reward cards, which unlock new plants, upgrades, supplies, reinforcements, etc., and will give you more options to tackle your challenges. For now, the options are still limited but they do make an appearance in the bonus scenarios.

I will be posting more about upcoming features, current WIP, and other fun stuff here, so stay tuned!

v0.4_demo patch notes:

  • Language support added for Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and French

  • Improved goodie-boxes: Renamed to "archive spores" and added GUI for reward selection (note: this GUI has not gone through localization yet - it is only available in English and German).

  • Added parallax backgrounds for Fungal- and Cave biome

  • Moved Neuron to build category "Development"

  • Retouched Neuron placement helper GUI elements

  • Retouched neuronal connections visuals

  • Polished Grubber redesign

  • Improved layering of plants and cells by size

  • Overhauled icons for scores and strategic resources.

  • Retouched build menu icons

  • Implemented sliders and dropdown lists for settings menu

  • Extensive internal code adaptations/optimization for upcoming full version features

  • Fixed Nitrogenase chain generating calories even when stomach is full

The intense sunli…Community31 Jul 2026July Dev Blog: Strategic World MapHey everyone! Marc here! It’s been a while since the last dev log, and Primordial Empire has evolved a lot! I’ve been doing a lot of work on the strategic parts of the game, including a new strategic AI that will try to destroy your Collective and an Expedition feature that lets you expand across all the biomes of the world map. Let’s have a look! Strategic AI Enemy colonies (“nests”) would spr…Community6 Jun 2026June Dev Blog: Scouts and TransportsHi everyone! Summer is here, bringing sunshine and warmth to the primordial soup. Thanks to that, our microscopic world is teeming with life, and our growing Collective is gradually adding new microorganisms to the mix.
