⚠️ Note: This update is for the Public Test branch of Valheim only, and may therefore be unstable!Prior to launching this update to the Default version of the game, we want to have a chance to discover bugs and fine-tune the balancing to ensure the best game experience.
  • ACCESS: Right-click Valheim in your Steam library, then select ‘Properties’. In the new window, select ‘Betas’ and type in the code “yesimadebackups”. The Public Test branch should now be available for you to select. The PTB FAQ can be found here.
  • FEEDBACK: Please leave any feedback in the “#valheim-public-test” channel in our Discord or through the form on our website.
Please remember to be considerate towards players who are not participating in the Public Test, as some may prefer to avoid spoilers. As indicated by the access code, please ensure to create backups of your save files before playing.

We hope you've been enjoying the Call to Arms update so far! We've gotten some great feedback, so now we have a long list of tweaks and fixes that should make the update both more stable and more enjoyable. This includes some fixes to wooden weapons, as well as tweaks to adrenaline and the new creatures. Fight well!

Fixes & Improvements:
* Battle Brother has remembered his real name: T.W.I.G.
* Bottled Tar Blob now has the correct model when being thrown
* Frost Blob is now weak against fire and very resistant against frost
* The Frost Blob Bomb now requires a Drake trophy instead of a Stone Golem trophy
* Made tweaks to make knives better for combat in slopes
* Wooden Greatsword is now repairable at the workbench
* Wooden weapons now have more appropriate block power
* Wooden Atgeirs are now a bit more rare to find
* Wooden Sword and Wooden Greatsword now sound like they’re made of wood
* Using mage staffs directly after dodging no longer grants abnormal amount of adrenaline
* Staff of Embers and Staff of Fracturing now only grant adrenaline on use instead of on hit
* Staff of Frost projectiles now grant 1 Adrenaline per hit instead of 2 per hit
* Area attacks (made by sledges, for example) now grant adrenaline
* Adrenaline granted when staggering enemies is now reduced from 5 to 3
* Killing Seeker Broods now grants less adrenaline than before
* Skull Splittur now requires Black Forge level 1 instead of level 3 to be crafted
* Skull Splittur now emits a bit of light, matching other similar weapons
* Blackmetal Battleaxe and Skull Splittur are now held more properly by the player character
* Fragrant Bundle, Fresh Seaweed and Thistle can now be placed flat on horizontal item stands (reminder: shift + E to change rotation on item stands)
* Bearskin Rug no longer flickers
* Bears and Viles now take 4 seconds to disappear after death instead of 8 seconds
* Bears and Viles should no longer get stuck behind trees and boulders as much
* Bears are now able to swim
* Viles now have a chance to drop Rotten Meat (in addition to Bear Meat)
* Viles are now part of the Plains Monster faction instead of the Undead faction
* Trinkets are now crafted using the Forge instead of the Workbench. Trinkets available in the Mistlands and Ashlands are now crafted in the Black Forge
* Both equipped the Trinket and equipped the Utility Item are now visible on the character at the same time
* You can no longer dodge while overencumbered
* Stairs of the Stone Portal should now be climbable
* Carvings on Fader sacrificial stone now have more emission to match other sacrificial stones
* Cores are no longer placed in hot bar when picked up, and are still able to be placed on item stands
* Looking at a beehive or an archery target while another player disconnects from the server no longer causes the game to crash
* Fighting Yagluth no longer makes the game crash on Xbox
* There’s no longer Null Reference Exceptions when some projectiles hit the Shield Generator
* Sledges once again are able to hit enemies through fractured mine rocks
* Fixed an issue where T.W.I.G. could be deconstructed multiple times in multiplayer
* Fix a bug that caused the GUI to not update matchmaking data immediately when adding a server from join code
* Fixed some spelling issues
* Updated localisation
