Dear Eternity’s Echo Community,

After months of deep silence, we are finally here. That silence had a purpose: we were working on an update that not only improves Eternity's Echo: Patient Zero but completely reimagines it, reshaping every part to deliver the dark, ruthless, and immersive experience we envisioned.

That day is today.

These update notes are not just a list of changes but a manifesto of our dedication, passion, and the effort we have poured into every detail of the game’s DNA. Without skipping a single detail, here are the revolutionary innovations:

I. MECHANICS: THE EVOLUTION OF GAMEPLAY

We unified the core mechanics of the game into a living, interconnected system. Every feature now influences and triggers another.

Core System Integration & Bug Fixing

The backbone of this update is the seamless integration of all existing systems. Every mechanic added since the demo now communicates and interacts with one another. Your actions will create interconnected consequences. We have also resolved all potential issues within this massive system network to deliver a more stable and fluid gameplay experience.

Perspective Revolution: Fully FPS Interaction

We have overhauled the basic interaction system to draw you deeper into the world. Inspecting objects and adding items to your inventory is now done entirely from a first-person (FPS) perspective rather than third-person (TPS). This allows you to feel every detail more closely. As part of this change, equipment like the flashlight has been moved from the weapon to the character’s head for better realism and usability.

New Mechanic: Ultra-Detailed Tactical Magazine Management

Reloading is now a strategic decision.

● Your Choice: A new menu option lets you pick your playstyle. You can reload quickly and sacrifice the bullets left in the mag, or take your time and save the remaining rounds. In times of scarcity, this could mean the difference between life and death.

● Manual Ammo Check: By holding “R,” you can now remove your magazine and check the remaining rounds in real time. No more surprises.

● Animation Depth: Dozens of new, detailed reload animations depending on whether your weapon is empty, half-full, or nearly full.

New Mechanic: The Rise of the Techblade & Advanced Mods Your throwable and recallable blade, the Techblade, has grown deadlier.

● Electric Mode Activated: The new electric mode is fully functional, complete with striking visual effects. It can temporarily stun AIs, electrify water surfaces, and play a crucial role in environmental puzzles.

● Time-Based Strategy: Mods are no longer infinite. You must carefully plan which mode to use and when.

● Instant Switching: A new menu system allows quick switching between mods to adapt to the flow of combat instantly.

New Mechanic: Advanced Healthwatch & Data Screens

Your watch has evolved into a survival hub. Beyond tracking health and heartbeat, it now includes expanded screens offering much more data and functionality, becoming a control center tailored to your needs.

New Mechanic: Push Your Limits with Dash & Slide

Your character now has new acrobatic abilities that make you unstoppable.

● Dash: Evade bullets, change cover, or slip behind enemies with a burst of speed. Those critical seconds may save you.

● Slide: Maintain momentum and dodge enemy fire by sliding under obstacles.

New Mechanic: Fighting Desperation: Healing & Dynamic Cover

● Self-Healing: You can now recover health at critical moments using special collectible equipment found in the environment.

● Dynamic Barricades: Are you caught in the middle of a fight? Interact with nearby objects like tables or cabinets to knock them over and create instant cover in combat.

Other Vital Mechanic Improvements

● Leaning Left & Right: Peek and shoot from cover safely with an improved lean system.

● Layered Health Feedback: Health is no longer just a number. Visual and audio cues intensify danger based on the severity of damage.

● Alternative Ways: Locked doors are no longer the end. A new system gives you layered options for entering. (More details on this soon!)

Realistic, destructible glass adds cinematic impact to combat

● Information-Based Puzzle System: A new puzzle mechanic tests your observation skills by requiring you to gather environmental clues.

● New Menus & Full Control: We redesigned both main and pause menus. Custom keybinding gives players complete freedom to play their way.

II. HUMAN AI: SMART, RUTHLESS & REALISTIC

Enemies are no longer scripted puppets. They think, react, and hunt you.

Advanced Behavior Trees & Tactical Intelligence

Tested across countless scenarios, enemies now feature:

● Situational Awareness: Enemies drop whatever they are doing (patrolling, repairing, etc.) if they see you. They react to nearby gunfire and return to their duties if you’re out of range.

● Smarter Sound Detection: They no longer rush blindly toward noise. Instead, they approach cautiously, scanning the area.

● Cover Logic: Enemies won’t fire at you through solid objects like walls, but will shoot through glass.

A Living World: AI Routines

Enemies now feel part of a living world, with routines like:

● Patrolling specific routes

● Standing guard between two points

● Stopping for conversations

● Wandering randomly while mumbling

● Doing single tasks (cleaning, repairing, etc.) until combat breaks out

Reactive Dialogue System: Listen to Them!

Enemies now talk, reflecting their state and environment:

● Express pain or anger when hit

● Reacting not only to footsteps or gunfire but also to your UV light, flashlight, and even the sound of your thrown Techblade.

● Display shock at discovering bodies or anger when comrades die mid-combat.

● Engaging in situational chatter during patrols, work, and reloads

Location-Based Damage: Every Bullet Matters

Every bullet counts. Enemies play specific animations based on hit location and collapse realistically with ragdoll physics. Shoot their weapon arm, and they’ll drop their gun in panic, switching to a sidearm.

III. CREATURE AI: NIGHTMARE OF THE DV’s

Dimensional Visitors (DVs) are now wilder, smarter, and terrifying.

Predator Instincts: Sight & Sound

They rely primarily on sound and secondarily on limited sight. It may be possible to sneak past them, but even a small noise can trigger a swarm.

Unpredictable Behavior Trees

● Exploration Mode: Follow set patrol routes or roam randomly in search of prey.

● Hunting Mode: When hearing a sound, they pause, scan the area, then sprint toward the source. If they don’t see you, they sniff around for a while. Once they do see you, relentless pursuit begins.

● Group Attacks: With enough DVs, they try to surround and cut off escape routes, moving smartly without colliding. Obstacles like falls won’t stop them; they’ll get up and continue the chase.

Wild Reactions: Physics-Based Damage

Every bullet impacts them realistically. In this entirely physics-based system, they stagger, stumble, or collapse depending on where the bullet hits them.

Collective Intelligence: Environmental Query System (EQS)

They’re no longer just mindless monsters. Through EQS, they constantly query their environment to find optimal attack positions. This lets them coordinate, avoid collisions, and attack from multiple angles effectively.

This update represents our vision and commitment to Eternity’s Echo: Patient Zero. We can’t wait for you to dive back in and experience these new features. Your feedback will continue to guide us as we shape this dark world.

Welcome back to hell. This time, you’d better be ready.

Sincerely,

The Eternity’s Echo Development Team
