Dev Log: New Map - PLANETARIUM

Hello Residents,

We know it's been a while since you last heard from us, but we've been busy behind the scenes. We've got some exciting news to share in this dev log.

Let's jump right into it.

Big news, we are working on a new map!

The Planetarium is the first new map for First Class Trouble in 5 years, so getting back into the mindset of what makes a great map took some time. We wanted to create something fresh, while still supporting the core gameplay you know and love.

Originally, the map started as a "Space Museum", but it felt a bit too generic and required a huge number of assets that just complicated things. Instead, we shifted direction and built the map around a central Planetarium dome, giving it a more distinct identity and an almost opera-like structure.

A new way to navigate

This is the first circular map in First Class Trouble. To make sure players don't feel lost, we focused heavily on readability:

- Unique rooms and hallways to help orientation

- Clear visual landmarks

- Signs that guide players through the more complex parts of the map

New death hazards

Suspended Planets

Massive planets hang above certain areas and can be dropped onto unsuspecting players. Once they hit the ground, they roll forward, taking out anyone in their path. There are multiple handles that can trigger each planet so be aware if you are a Resident.

Dome Projector

The central dome projector usually puts on a beautiful show... but it can also be overridden.

When tampered with, it fired deadly laser beams across the entire room, instantly setting players on fire (yep, including Personoids). A very very dangerous device indeed, so pay attention to who you let close to it.

Map size and flow

The Planetarium is one of our largest maps, second only to the Ski Resort.

While the overall footprint isn't massive, it offers a lot of playable space. The central dome acts as a hub, bringing players together and keeping the action from feeling too spread out.

Small Disclaimer: The screenshots are from work in progress so the final version might look different.

We hope the Planetarium feels like a fresh new experience for all of you. With its unique layout and new hazards, it opens up new strategies for both Personoids and Residents.

Thanks for sticking with us, and we can’t wait to hear what you think.See you aboard 🚀
