We heard you. Red Rogue Sea sets sail into this major update with a reforged combat system and brand-new content!

Our goal was to preserve what already worked while improving the parts of the game that created the most friction. With Red Rogue Sea 2.0, you’ll find the most polished version of the game yet, and we’re truly proud of it. Take a look at some of the new features in our brand-new teaser:

Combat system

This is the game’s biggest change. Many of you pointed out the frustration of not drawing the right cards and the desire to have all your available actions accessible during combat.

At the same time, we didn’t want to sacrifice the deckbuilding aspect of the game. So we came up with a new solution: your hand is now limited to 10 cards, but those cards are always available to play. In exchange, each card now requires a resource of its color to be used.

Those same cards also determine the resources available when building your action deck, which means you’ll need to carefully choose which ones you want to include and which ones you’re willing to leave aside.

New cannonball

Who doesn’t love a poisoned cannonball that damages enemy crew? Meet the Blightshot, a new addition to your arsenal for players who prefer targeting enemy crewmembers directly and spreading toxins across the battlefield.

New item and events

We’ve also added new content to further expand the world and events that shape Red Rogue Sea.

Among the new additions is a useful item: the Octant. Purchase it in the shop and you’ll be able to reroll the sea exits leading to the next sector, giving you more control when planning your journey.

Quality of Life improvements

We’ve implemented a wide range of smaller tweaks to improve clarity and overall quality of life. One notable addition is a set of small permanent tags above each crewmember, making it much easier to see their current status at a glance.

These are just some of the improvements you’ll find in this reforged version of the game, and we encourage all of you to jump in and leave a review with your thoughts. Your feedback is always incredibly valuable in helping us continue polishing the game, and it was the foundation of this major update.

Fair winds,

David and Albert Montes
Captains of the Red Rogue
