We’re excited to share more details about one of the big features coming in our next major update: the new saddle system for mounts in Athos. This system will add more depth and flexibility to how you use your dino companions, giving you the ability to customize them for different playstyles and situations.
At its core, the saddle system introduces three main saddle types:
Transport Saddle – Designed for utility and hauling power, this saddle boosts weight capacity and transport-related stats, making it easier to move large amounts of crafted resources or heavy items across the world.
Runner Saddle – Built for speed and mobility, the runner saddle improves movement stats, allowing your dino mount to travel faster across rough terrain and cover long distances in record time.
Armor Saddle – Focused on combat readiness, this saddle increases armor and protection, giving your mount greater durability and turning it into a fearsome ally in battles.
One of the most exciting parts of this system is that saddles and their gear will be modular and interchangeable. This means you can combine elements from different saddle types to create hybrid builds that fit your needs. For example, mix armor with runner gear to balance speed and combat efficiency, or combine armor with transport upgrades to move heavy loads while still staying protected on the road.
Alongside the saddle system, this update will also bring a major engine upgrade to Unreal Engine 5.6, delivering a host of new features, optimizations, and bug fixes that will make Athos look and play better than ever. This upgrade will also mark the beginning of our preparations to bring Athos to Xbox and PlayStation platforms, expanding the world of Athos to even more players.
