Quick Guide

Daily Chthonicle: Editor's Edition · published 15 Jul 2016, 23:28 UTC

Just a couple things that aren't immediately evident or covered by the tutorial.

Gameplay
Events only occur as the time moves forward. This happens very slowly, but you can accelerate it by clicking on the clock. Also, some reporter commands have a ">" button next to them, which will execute the command and also shift time into accelerated speed. When an event occurs, the time stops until it is resolved.

The colored circles on the status bar represent available reporters in the office (left side) and currently disabled reporters (right side). The < and > icons in the status bar allow you to browse the game history.

The files on the chart (main office) are the reporters' stories. At 2am and 2pm, best three stories are selected and published automatically, for which the player is instantly rewarded with $.

Control

  • To scroll any of the files on the screen, just hover the cursor over it and use the mouse slider or up & down cursor keys.
  • To move from screen to screen, use the triangle icons in the bottom corners.
  • To pause/unpause the game, press TAB.
  • Click on the status bar to switch between the two status bar modes.
  • In most cases, right button click offers some info and left button click activates or selects.

Tutorial Fixes
The Laboratory mentioned in the tutorial is actually an advanced feature, mostly reserved for higher difficulty levels, so you can simply ignore it for now.

Also, the tutorial keeps informing you that you can items in Encounters, but the reporters also Auto Equip, which is confusing.

These are all to be decided in the future, but now we present the following features: · A procedurally generated cosmos with star systems, planets, planetary landscapes, lifeforms and biomes, archeological sites and finds, astronomical p…Community4 Feb 2020Corona Celestia PrototypeI started working on a new game, it's in early prototype stage but if anyone is interested in complex RPG simulations, please do take a look! Oh, another space trading and exploration game, you might say. But well, I'm trying to do it my way so it's gonna be a bit different. I'm trying to create the atmosphere of exploring an unknown, dangerous universe, perhaps similar to some early space RPGs…Community27 Jan 2017PC Games n News Review...In conclusion, Daily Chthonicle suffers mostly from a bad interface, it does not meet its goals in terms of providing meaningful procedurally generated story-telling, but the game hiding under the outer shell is a fine one; an interesting management sim, with great RPG elements in how to deal with encounters. The weird horror setting is used well and makes this game stand out despite not bei…
