Realindustry v0.2.0: Massive Visual Overhaul & QoL

The demo is launching in just one hour, and to celebrate, version 0.2.0 brings an absolutely massive overhaul to the look, feel, and flow of Realindustry!

This update focuses heavily on immersing you in the gritty, dynamic environment of your factories. A completely new visual architecture has been built from the ground up to support dynamic shaders, glowing furnaces, and flying sparks, alongside a wave of Quality of Life (QoL) improvements.

Here are the major highlights:

A New Industrial Atmosphere

The static factory is a thing of the past. Buildings now feature complex, layered visual effects depending on their type and status.

  • Cinematic Effects. Watch the heat distort the air above your smelters, smoke billow from your refineries, and scanners sweep across your high-tech labs.

  • Realistic Particles. Metalworking buildings now throw dynamic sparks, while mining and gathering sites kick up different colors of dust based on the materials being processed.

  • Optical & Liquid Effects. Fluid-based buildings like water pumps and chemical plants now feature beautiful wet-glass distortion and condensation effects.

Performance First

While these new effects look incredible, they shouldn't melt your actual PC. A brand new, highly optimized WebGL manager handles the heavy lifting. If you are playing on a lower-end machine, don't worry!

All shaders and particle effects have graceful fallbacks. You have full control in the settings menu to individually toggle cinematic shaders, optical effects, and realistic ambient particles to ensure a buttery-smooth framerate.

Steam Overlay & QoL

Managing your production chains is now more intuitive with a massive new custom UI stylesheet that themes the production interfaces per building. Additionally, we've successfully implemented Steam Overlay support for Windows!

Full Changelog: Version 0.2.0

Graphics & Visuals

  • Major Visual Architecture Overhaul: Implemented a robust new WebGL management system to handle advanced rendering efficiently.

  • Cinematic Ambient Shaders: Added full-screen-style cinematic effects including heat distortion, smoke, dynamic sparks, tech scanning lines, and color-coded dust.

  • Realistic Ambient Particles: Added dynamic canvas-based particle generation for sparks, smoke, "smart dust," and energy nodes. These effects only activate when the building is visible on screen to save performance.

  • Optical Ambient Effects: Added wet-glass style shaders featuring raindrops and visual distortion for liquid and chemical-based buildings.

  • Glow Ambient: Added animated glow layers for all furnace and heat-based buildings.

  • Dynamic Building Cards: Building interface cards now fully support all new shader layers, updating in real-time when the building is constructed and operational.

UI & Interfaces

  • Themed Production Interfaces: Introduced a massive new stylesheet that provides unique, themed styles for different building types, including custom buttons, controls, and layout adjustments.

  • General UI Polish: Improved button styling, card visuals, backgrounds, and overall control presentation across the entire game.

  • Timer Formatting: Improved the display formatting for cooldowns and production timers, making them easier to read at a glance.

System & Performance

  • Steam Overlay: Implemented Steam Overlay support for Windows builds (Note: Mac support is currently in development and not yet functional).

  • Graceful Graphic Fallbacks: Added safety fallbacks that seamlessly switch to standard 2D image rendering if WebGL is unavailable or disabled.

  • Advanced Graphics Settings: Added dedicated settings toggles allowing players to disable specific shaders, WebGL effects, optical effects, or realistic ambient particles for low-end hardware optimization.

  • Under-the-hood Modularization: Centralized expensive rendering logic and allowed components to subscribe to setting changes in real-time without requiring a full game reload.

  • Defensive Programming: Added extensive safeguards for non-DOM environments and error handling to ensure maximum stability.

Gameplay & Telemetry

  • Enhanced Tutorial Hooks: Expanded tutorial integration with new tracking for preset clicks, recipe selections, and amount adjustments to ensure the tutorial reacts perfectly to your actions.

  • Expanded Analytics: Added telemetry for tab changes, specific UI button clicks, and other events to help track UX pain points and improve future updates.

Audio & Localization

  • UI Audio: Added new sound integration points, including audio feedback for tab changes and updated button clicks.

  • Voice Assets: Updated and recorded new voice references for several tutorial lines.

  • Localization Fixes: Corrected numerous strings across all supported languages (EN, DE, ES, FR, RU, UK, ZH, IT).

  • UI Translations: Added new localized strings for recent UI additions, including sorting options, unlocked filters, production statuses, and graphics settings descriptions.

  • Tutorial Text: Fixed phrasing regarding building construction and updated directional instructions (e.g., corrected the "Jump to Tier" button location text).

Major update15 Sep 2026Realindustry 1.1.0: Automation, Inventory, UI Scaling & Demo UpdateDirectors, Realindustry Update 1.1.0 is now live for both the full game and the demo. This is one of the biggest updates I have released so far. Instead of only adding more things, I focused on something more important: making the systems clearer, making automation more necessary, and making the game feel more consistent across different setups . A lot of this update comes directly from player…In-game event1 Sep 2026QoL Update: Wide Production UI and Better Automation BalanceHello, Directors. This is a regular Realindustry update, but it is an important one for the way the game feels moment to moment. A lot of the work here came directly from player feedback : too much scrolling inside production, early automation feeling stricter than intended, and several interface details that were technically working but not pleasant enough. Realindustry is still a one-person p…Major update28 Aug 2026Realindustry Demo 1.0: The Biggest Demo Update YetRealindustry Demo 1.0 is now live Hello Directors, This is a major update for Realindustry, and especially for the demo. The full version of the game has received another important pre-release polish patch based on early feedback from creators. These changes matter a lot for the final release build, but most of them are not something regular players will directly feel yet. The bigger news is th…
