Great Power Actions

The 5 most prestigious provinces in the past year are considered "great power" and a series of "great power actions" become available.

  • Demand a Tile
  • Demand a Tribute
  • Demand Election Backing
  • Denounce

For example, when demanding a tile as a great power, the chance of them accepting the demand is based on prestige and the tile's upgrades.

A dice roll determines if the province will actually accept our demand - if they do, you get the tile, and if they don't, you get a casus belli against them.

Demanding a tribute works similarly - instead, you get gold instead of tile.

Demanding election backing will make them pledge with us in the upcoming consul election (more on that later)

Senate & Consul

A new mechanism is added: Senate & Consul. Every year, 2 consuls will be elected from 9 candidates. You can pledge support to 2 candidates - and if the candidates you've backed are elected, you will be rewarded Consul Points. The candidates with the most provincial backing will be elected. If you are a great power, you can also demand another province to back your candidate, increasing the chance of being elected.

Consul points can be used to enact Senate decrees, including:

  • Request Funding (you get more land & good tax for a year)
  • Name Public Enemy (name a province as public enemy, reducing their prestige and war power, and granting everyone a casus belli against them)
  • Dissolve Treaty (end a province's diplomatic treaty, and prevent the province from making new treaties)

Force Attack & Mercenaries

In this patch, a new war mechanism is introduced - force attack. When forcing attack, when our attack is repelled, instead of losing 1 war score, we will lose 10% of our standing army.

And hiring mercenaries has been redone - you spend one-time gold to immediately reinforce your army to reach target conscription. This works together with force attack to create some interesting dynamics.

New Content

There are two new buildings: Circus Maximus (-20 Tile Unrest) and Courthouse (-25% Tile Upgrade Cost). More tech tree items have been added to unlock these buildings, plus all these new mechanisms.

Save Version Update

With all these updates, the save file version has been bumped from II to III, which means the old save is no longer compatible - you should get a prompt when launching this version.

If you are interested in joining the playtest of this game, you can sign up in our Discord channel (currently open to all CivIdle players with Praetor or above rank). I hope to see you there!
