Hi there
A lot has been happening these past few weeks so I thought it’s time for an update!
One big piece of news is that Null has shut down their publishing operations, so they will no longer be publishing Demon Spore.
The good news is the game will still be coming out! It's really close now, it’s just bug fixing and balancing left. The current plan is to self publish the game instead, but now we have to do all the marketing ourselves and handle a bunch of other things which is going to add some extra time. So the game won’t make the July release date unfortunately. As soon as a I have a clearer idea on release, I will send another update but it's likely to be a few extra months. Thanks for all your support and patience so far, really can't wait to get the game out and see what people think of the final result!
We recently put the finishing touches to one of the animated story sequences for the game, and have just put it together for a new trailer. Make sure you watch all the way to end - there’s some brand new footage of weapons and some cool new enemy types :)
A lot has gone into the game in the last few months so the main focus right now is balancing the experience so the difficulty ramp is just right and everything is as polished as possible. The progression systems are now much more extensive, with you being able to find lots of equipment and upgrades in every floor e.g. there’s now a bionic arms upgrade that allows you to throw chairs or other furniture at a super high force that can hit an enemy dead on and cause big damage! All of this takes time to fine tune, but it adds a ton more depth to the game.
We’ve also put in difficulty modes so that those players that want an easier experience (or an extra hardcore one!) have those options.
If you are interested in playtesting the game, we’re going to start setting that up through the Discord soon. So please join the Discord to find out how to become a playtester.
That’s all for now, it’s back to the lab for me!
