1.1.0: The Factually Fresh Update

Bait & Tackle: FACTUALLY FRESH is our first major update since our release back in October! While we’ve been working on bugs, making balancing tweaks, and making sure the game is in a good spot with the occasional patch, this update is much more substantial! We compiled a list of some features/changes/extra polish that the team really wanted to get in to make the experience that much better, some QoL features, and something the team has wanted to implement for a very long time. We figured that a lot of these updates focused on polish, QoL, and other cosmetic aspects of the game, so we compiled them into this major content update: new environment and animated assets, a visually overhauled shipwreck level, Fishdex UI improvements, a replayable credits level, more visual polish, and—of course—fish facts for every fish in the Fishdex!

Changelog

Boss Updates

> Slightly increased Major Minnow's recovery time between attacks.

> Fixed issue causing unused droplet and steam particles to mistakenly be used for the Bass Bosses.

> Increased ending recovery of Bigger Bass's Flip attack by 0.2 seconds.

> Increased ending recovery of Bigger Bass's Geyser Summon attack by 0.2 seconds.

> Lengthened The One That Got Away Again's Bowl Toss attack animation to better reflect the hitboxes of the attack.

> Increased recovery time at the end of The One That Got Away Again's Vertical Spin attack by 0.15 seconds.

> Fixed issue that would cause the Goldfish Bosses' position tracker arrow to sometimes be present during their fatigued animation.

> Fixed issue that caused The One That Got Away Again's heal to not trigger again properly if the player fatigued it early enough in the animation prior to the application of the heal.

Boss Art Updates

> The Bass bosses now have new drool sprites to match the other water droplet assets.

> Fixed issue causing the Bass bosses' drool to be present during their intro and escape animations.

> Added new oil projectile assets for the Crab bosses’ oil attacks.

> The One That Got Away/The One That Got Away Again have animated large fireball projectiles in their final phase.

> Added a new phase transition animation for the Goldfish bosses' final phase.

> Added a permanent glow to The One That Got Away Again during its final phase after it heals.

Environment Art

> The sky background has received some upgrades, as it now includes occasional twinkling stars!

> The water tiles on each level have been updated to be animated.

> The seaweed environmental decorations have been updated to be animated.

Fishdex

> Added real fish facts for every fish—including bosses—in Bait & Tackle. Hover over a fish’s icon in the Fishdex to learn more about them!

> Added new Fishdex assets for the checkboxes, dropdowns, and bait outlines!

Credits

> The credits can now be replayed from the title screen once The One That Got Away has been defeated!

Dialogue Updates

> Updated the dialogue in the Island Ruins that plays if the player fishes a bunch in the tide pools without encountering Swordmaster Swordfish to better indicate that the boss is not in the pools.

Accessibility

> Now properly calculates boss rating with the extra health option toggled on, as it would previously not take into account the extra health during calculations.

Feedback

We hope that this update brings the world of Bait & Tackle to life, and that it adds a little something extra to the experience, and we’d love to hear if we did a good job!

Thank you, as always, for the support, and stay tuned!
