Howdy, gunslingers!
Pull up a chair and gather ‘round the fire. The year is coming to a close, and after a few months of silent, intense work, we want to share with you exactly what’s been happening behind the scenes at Ace Horizon Studios.
First, we need to say thank you. Seeing so many people buying, playing, and reviewing Red Pistol has been a life-changing experience for our small team. Knowing that there are people playing our game in different corners of the world is surreal and deeply moving for us.
And wow... you guys are good! We are blown away by the skill level of this community. We’ve seen players reaching Bounties of over 1 Million! That goes far beyond what we thought was possible, and it fills us with pride.
We know the last update was 4 months ago, and we want to be fully transparent about why. To take Red Pistol to its maximum potential, we had to make a tough but necessary decision: slow down to speed up.
Basically, we had to rewrite most of the game's code. This took much longer than planned, but it was essential. To ensure future content has the quality you deserve—and to make sure the game runs smoothly—we needed a rock-solid foundation.
This deep work allowed us to:
Enable Quality Content: We can now create more complex weapons and mechanics without breaking the game.
Pave the Way for Consoles: This restructuring was the key step for our future release on other platforms (like the Switch!).
More "Juice" and Polish: We took the opportunity to improve visual effects, add more impact ("game juice"), and restructure several interfaces to be cleaner and more functional.
Take a look at how fluid things are looking:
We are still extremely excited about this project. This pause in public updates was to ensure Red Pistol's future is bright. New content is coming very soon, and we can't wait for you to get your hands on it.
Thank you all for this incredible year. You are the best community in the Wild West!
Happy Holidays and see you soon,
The Ace Horizon Studios Team
