HumanitZ 1.03 – Major Performance Update Drops Thursday

Dear Survivors,

We wanted to give you a quick update on the 1.03 patch.

As mentioned previously, this update has taken longer than our usual two week cadence due to the scale of the changes we’ve made. We made the call to delay it because it represents a major step forward in performance and overall stability, and we wanted to make sure it was done properly.

The 1.03 update is now planned to drop this Thursday, 2nd April.

A lot of the issues identified since 1.0 tied back to the addition of the EOS system as part of our future plans. This meant we had to rework and rebuild parts of the game, which is why development has taken longer than expected.

To give you some insight into what’s coming with 1.03:

  • Steam Deck improvements, making the game far more playable even on higher settings, bringing us closer to full support, which we are still actively working towards.

  • We’ve moved the game from hard references to soft references. Previously, the game loaded everything into memory on startup, which caused major VRAM issues. This change allows assets to load more efficiently and has resulted in a significant performance improvement, but required extensive testing to get right.

  • Zombie improvements through optimisation of perception systems such as hearing and sight, allowing more Zeeks on screen with less impact on performance.

We are now in the final stages of testing this week to ensure everything is running as smoothly as possible ahead of release.

Thank you for your continued support,

HZ Team
