Before we dive into our philosophy, we’d like to share a small bit of our reality with you. Team MoonSun is a small indie team, and every one of our members is currently working other day jobs to make a living. Because we are balancing our passion for Eclipse with our daily livelihoods, we may not be able to reply to every comment or provide answers as quickly as we would like.
We kindly ask for your generous understanding of our situation. Please know that we are doing our absolute best within our capacity to make Eclipse the best experience it can be. We are always deeply grateful for your patience and support.
🌟 Our Localization Philosophy
In Eclipse, we have meticulously built a world centered on the autonomy and strength of women. To remain true to this vision, we believe our localization must go beyond simple translation—it must challenge the historical prejudices embedded in the very characters (Hanzi) we use.
We have tried to avoid certain traditional Hanzi that carry roots of misogyny or female suppression. We want the names of our characters to reflect their true power.
To be honest, we are a small indie team, not professional linguists. While we are doing our absolute best to find alternatives that align with our philosophy, if we ultimately cannot find a suitable substitute, we will use conventional characters.
However, we firmly believe that the core message of Eclipse—the autonomy and strength of women in The Land of Solar—is carried by our characters' lives, their choices, and the journey they take. A single character cannot diminish the spirit of the story we have built. We hope you see our search for new names as a sincere effort to honor our characters, but the true heart of Eclipse will always remain in the narrative itself.
