Trivia Murder Party 3 End-of-Year Community Update

We’re thrilled to share an update on how Trivia Murder Party 3 is shaping up to feel bigger and more alive than ever… which is more than we can say for some of [REDACTED]’s victims!

This past year has been focused on expanding our creative vision and leveling up our technical capabilities. We’re striving to make a Trivia Murder Party that honors everything fans love, while elevating it in exciting new ways.

We’re excited about the progress we’ve made and appreciate your patience, excitement, and support while we’ve been quietly stitching all of this together behind the scenes. Trivia Murder Party 3 is shaping up to be a deep, rich, and immersive adventure, and we can’t wait for you to step inside.

State of the Game

Our goal for Trivia Murder Party 3 is to deliver a sequel that simultaneously delights existing fans while expanding the franchise's possibilities. We’re not just slapping a fresh coat of paint on top of some new content; we went back to the drawing board for a massive leap in scope, atmosphere, and longevity.

We’ve been hard at work defining the core creative and design principles that are guiding every choice, including:

  • Leaning into 3D: We are delivering a bigger and better experience by taking advantage of a modern 3D engine. This is allowing us to craft an immersive cinematic world grounded in a unified theme: the terrifying atmosphere of an 80s slasher/summer camp. Does anyone want a high-res sloppy joe?

  • Always Someone to Play With: A core focus is making it easier to connect with friends or strangers anytime with online multiplayer and matchmaking. We are building the game so that the humor, gameplay, and social energy of Jackbox always shine through, no matter who you’re playing with.

  • Evolving Gameplay: We are designing new gameplay elements, including the introduction of Plot Twists, which inject surprise and variety by changing up the rules or social dynamics of every game.

  • Variety and Re-Imagination: We are focused on providing a variety of minigames with strong replayability. This means creating exciting brand new minigames and bringing back your fan favorites, but re-imagined and modernized to take full advantage of our new 3D engine.

  • Tone: Expect the signature Trivia Murder Party experience, where the tone alternates between creepy horror and lighthearted comedy.

  • Expansive Trivia:  Our team of writers (real mouth-breathing humans) are creating an ever-expansive library of interesting trivia questions and, good news, only one of them is about Ryan Seacrest! Additionally, thanks to our Plot Twist system, we will be introducing brand new spins to trivia that we think you’re going to love.

Our approach of combining cinematic presentation with deep, robust online systems in a new modern game engine is ambitious, and getting extra time to build this game concept has been rewarding. (Also, we weren’t kidding about that Ryan Seacrest question. The correct answer is B.)

Concept Art

Here’s a look at some early concept art for a few key gameplay moments. Keep in mind, none of this art is final so don’t yell at us in the comments if the game comes out and looks a bit different. We do have comments on Jackbox blogs... right?

An early look at a minigame prototype called Killer Cam:

Have you ever wanted to make your doll express an emotion? Well we’re testing an emote system that spans the entire human experience from Joy to Fart. <3

Here’s some concept art for the Final Round… oh my god, he’s right behind you!

Finally, here’s a sneak peek inside [REDACTED]’s lair…

And last but not least, here’s a clip of some of the new music for the game! We just can’t help but tap our toes to this while struggling to remember where Latvia is.

Looking Ahead

2026 is going to be a big year for Trivia Murder Party 3, and we want to share with you some of our Milestone goals so you know what to expect.

Spring 2026 – Steam Alpha Playtesting

In early spring, we plan to utilize Steam’s Playtesting feature to allow you, our community, to play Trivia Murder Party 3 for free and provide us feedback on your experience that we can learn from to improve the game and new online play features.

We will have a lot more information to share about how Alpha testing will work soon, so keep an eye out here on our blog!

Late Summer 2026 – Early Access available on Steam and Epic Store

Launching Trivia Murder Party 3 as an Early Access title is a first for Jackbox, and as you would expect from any Early Access title, we’ll provide a series of updates to the game to improve gameplay and add new features and content. But most importantly, we are excited about the opportunity it will give us to learn and interact directly with our community to shape the future of the game!

TBD 2027 – v1.0 Launch

Our current plans are to exit Early Access at some point in 2027 with a v1.0 version of Trivia Murder Party 3 expanded from Steam and Epic Store to include: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and Nintendo Switch 2.

That’s it for us! We have to go make [REDACTED] his favorite kale smoothie or he’ll smash our ant farm again. We’re grateful to our dev team for their hard work and to our wonderful fans and community for their patience and enthusiasm! Stay tuned for more updates in 2026.
