Rifters, this is the Second Update, the Gun Modding Update.

This one is a big update for Lost Rift. We are introducing full weapon modding, a major expansion to gunplay that lets you tailor weapons to your playstyle, whether you prefer precision sniping, stealth, or full-on combat.

We have also added a new building material - wood, so you can expand your island architecture and base-building.

Alongside this, we have reworked combat feel, loot distribution, progression systems, and added a wide range of improvements across AI, UI, world design, and more.

Patch Notes for update 2

Weapon Modding (Major Feature)

Weapon modifications have been added to the game and can be equipped at the Modding Table. Modding Table can be unlocked via a quest after you have opened the Communication Tower on Pioneer's Landing.

Modding tables are also available on both expedition islands, though some may be hidden or defended.

  • Weapon mod types include: silencers, chokes and muzzles, magazines, laser sights, sights (including scopes), and grips.

  • Mods impact weapon behavior by reducing recoil and sway, modifying magazine size, improving aiming control, and reducing weapon noise.

  • Mods are divided into three tiers: DIY, Commercial, and Military.

  • Basic mods can be found on Outcasts, while higher-tier mods are located in hidden rooms or dropped by bosses. Bosses have a high chance of dropping modded weapons.

  • DIY mods can be crafted at the Weapon Bench after being unlocked.

  • Weapons have been rebalanced, especially in terms of recoil and sway, to ensure mods create a noticeable difference.

Weapons and Combat

  • Headshot detection has been improved to be more reliable.

  • Healing has been rebalanced

    • Fiber bandage heals 20 HP (5 seconds use time)

    • Treated bandage heals 30 HP (4 seconds use time)

    • Healing tonic heals 1 HP per second for 60 seconds (3 seconds use time)

    • Medkit heals 70 HP (4 seconds use time)

    • Survival kit heals 100 HP (3.5 seconds)

    • Revival kit heals 100 HP, removes heavy wounds, and allows reviving teammates (4 seconds)

  • Epic weapons have been reworked and are no longer pre-equipped with mods. Players can now customize them freely.

  • NEW Weapon! Hunter Rifle, a high damage bolt action rifle with a small magazine and strong recoil, available in Rusted, Stock, and Epic variants

  • New weapons rarity added:

    • Liberator (Epic)

    • Frontier (Epic)

AI Changes

  • Marksman fallback behavior has been improved to prevent them from getting stuck outside combat.

  • Torches have been removed from most Outcasts.

  • The sniper boss DeadEye Dom in the Weather Station and the Doctor Ali in the Quarantine Zone of Locker Island have been rebalanced.

  • Rifle accuracy for Outcasts has been adjusted based on weapon type.

  • Outcasts also have modded weapons

  • Added names for specific AI based on Their Tier and specialization

Loot and Economy

  • A large loot and economic rebalance has been implemented

  • Each item now belong to loot category (eg. Mechanical resources like metal scrap, or Electronics resource like wire)

  • Expedition maps now show loot categories on POI, no more guessing where to go to get that car battery.

  • Loot chest and dead bodies are now dynamically redistributed each expedition.

  • Trophy drop chances have been adjusted:

    • Capybara, Goat, Tapir 25%

    • Bonkey, Bogzilla 40%

    • Hyena 5%

    • Alpha Hyena 40%

  • Stack sizes for Medkits, Survival Kits, and Revival Kits have been increased to 10.

  • Empty loot chests now remain open to indicate they have already been looted.

  • Item rarity adjustments:

    • Treated Wood is now Uncommon

    • Goat Helmet is now Uncommon

    • Metal Axe and Metal Pickaxe are now Rare

Building and Progression

A new material, Wood, has been introduced with increased durability and cost. It unlocks after finding the Metal Axe.

  • A new build piece, the Thatch Ramp, has been added. Thatch Roofs and ramps are now separate pieces, while previously built ramps retain their roof appearance.

  • Furniture and crafting station costs have been rebalanced and are generally cheaper. Cozy values for some furniture have also been adjusted.

World Updates

  • Difficulty indicators have been added in both Expedition maps using the following flags:

    • Green (1 eye) Easy

    • Yellow (2 eyes) Medium

    • Red (3 eyes) Hard

  • New starting and extraction points have been added to both expedition islands, with some extraction points placed deeper inland.

Food and Consumables

  • Some of the consumables' values were slightly adjusted.

UI

  • Loot categories are now displayed in the inventory, helping players understand item usage and sourcing.

  • Resource category icons have been added to the map.

  • The ammo widget has been improved. Ammo counters now turn red when empty, and prompts have been added for switching ammo types.

  • Item tooltips have been reworked to provide more detailed information, especially for weapons.
