We’re currently putting the final touches on a long-awaited community wish that will arrive this spring alongside our upcoming DLC. Since release, many of you have shared recurring ideas. We’re excited to finally bring one of those long-standing requests to life.
Since the release of Dorfromantik, there have been certain community wishes that keep coming up again and again. True evergreen topics. One of the biggest examples was the Undo Button, a feature many of you asked for from day one. We were happy to bring it into the game in 2022, and it’s been a core part of the experience ever since.
But of course, the Undo Button wasn’t the only idea.
There are other requests that regularly find their way into our inboxes, comment sections, and forums. And while we genuinely love many of them at their core, we unfortunately can’t implement all of them.
Sometimes it’s the balancing of the base game that makes an idea difficult to realize. Sometimes it would require rebuilding large parts of Dorfromantik’s technical foundation from scratch. And sometimes, quite simply, it comes down to us being a small team.
To give you a bit of insight, some of the most requested additions that haven’t become reality include Mountains, Bridges for your train tracks, and a Night Mode.

"Just like how we unlock the Windmill will there be possibilities to unlock more cool tiles? For example bridge that would allow rails to pass over water." - CrazyCory1230

"Ooooh. Yeah, night mode with lit houses etc sounds really neat." - The Renderer
"Make Pizza Hut special tile. It must be done." - Maf
We want you to know that we take these wishes very seriously. At regular intervals, we sit down as a team and review which ideas we might realistically bring to life, without compromising the heart of Dorfromantik. And this spring, we’re finally able to fulfill one long-standing community wish.
For the surprise we’re preparing, we’re currently in the final stages of polishing. We’re refining the game feel and testing how the new addition integrates with the existing elements.
Timing-wise, we’ll reveal this surprise together with the upcoming DLC (read more about it here).
While the DLC will most probably be a paid one, the additional surprise will be free of charge for all Dorfromantik players. If you already have Dorfromantik in your Steam Library, you’ll receive the surprise simply by updating the game.
... and the catch? There isn’t one. We just felt that you’ve been waiting a long time for new content, and it wouldn’t feel right to release a paid DLC only. As passionate players ourselves, we always appreciate it when our favorite games surprise us with a few gifts every now and then. It's our way of saying: Thanks for sticking with us over all these years! 🎁
