New Roadmap and Planned Gameplay Changes

Hi Chefs!

We are excited to reveal our new roadmap for Chef RPG towards the eventual 1.0 release. The early access and feedback from players has helped reshape development, and we have diverted course from our original plans. However, we will still be able to implement all of the features and content that we had originally envisioned, with some timeline changes.

Previously, we have been releasing major updates at around 3-month intervals, but we have found this method to have some drawbacks. Moving forwards, we have decided to combine certain updates into fewer, larger updates. This will mean a larger gap between updates. It will help optimize testing and reduce bugs, and earlier testing will also help us improve new gameplay features to be more fun. Also, larger updates will give returning players more fresh content to experience all at once.

Version 0.85 (Tidehaven Update)

Tidehaven is a brand new fishing village located in the middle of the ocean. This update will introduce Fish Farms, a deep-sea fishing minigame, and a new character with new quests. Tidehaven will also be the setting of a new festival! More seasonal gameplay variety and gameplay-affecting weather features will also be added in this update. This update will release sometime later this Summer.

Version 0.9 (Localization and Wrapping up loose ends)

Our translation team has been doing lots of great work behind the scenes and Chef RPG will soon be available in multiple languages! This update will also focus on finalizing restaurant-related gameplay systems, and wrapping up stories that are not connected to the main story, or connected to Billboard City.

1.0  Launch

The final 1.0 will be far larger than any major update. It will contain the Billboard City area, along with the rest of the main story. It will feature various late and end-game content.

Other Gameplay Changes

In addition to story and content additions, we have received a lot of feedback regarding various systems in the game, and we now have a good idea of which systems we will require major improvements or an overhaul. We have not decided exactly which update will contain the following improvements, since we feel it’s important to keep development flexible, which will lead to a better result. However, we have a good idea of the changes we want to make to each system and all of the following we be completed by the time of the 1.0 launch.

Overhaul

  • Friendship and Romance System

  • Staff & Hiring

Major Improvements

  • Unique / surprise restaurant challenges

  • Hunting and Wildlife

  • Mining

  • Decorating

  • UI and Fonts

Games are never done . . .

After the 1.0 launch, we are always happy to continue developing Chef RPG, as long as there is meaningful content to add. One requested feature is multiplayer. This is a relatively difficult feature to implement since it requires major changes across many systems, but it is something that we can work on if there is enough demand for it.

Feel free to share your thoughts! Thank you for your support and feedback throughout these years, and we are excited work on and to eventually share these final updates!
