We have decided that the Lucky Roll Platform is going to be removed from our games and stripped away from the website. This means that your Lucky Roll account is going to be deleted along with its data. When we originally built our own platform in AWS we wanted to build a gaming platform that aligned with industry standards in terms of speed, security and reliability so that our players could enjoy features such as cross-save and cross-progression. We believe we achieved that goal, however, in hindsight we believe that the platform we engineered is overkill for the games that we are building at Lucky Roll Studio and therefore have decided to eliminate the platform altogether.
User Accounts:
Going forward players of Cozy Room Decorator, The Witches’ Whisk and Draw, Draw, Pass! will no longer be required to create a Lucky Roll account to do specific things in game. We will use your Steam username in-lieu of your Lucky Roll display name. This same principal will continue with new games and other platforms such as Playstation and Nintendo. For the foreseeable future, online games with multiplayer will use platform specific technology (such as Steamworks) or already established and popular 3rd party solutions such as Unity Gaming Services or Epic Online Services.
Community Gallery
Unfortunately, the community gallery is the biggest impact from this decision. It will no longer be possible to upload rooms to the community gallery or look at rooms in the gallery as this feature is entirely hosted on the Lucky Roll platform. We ran the numbers before making this decision and found that less than 10% of our player base with an account have used the community gallery and only around 1% of the total player base has ever seen the community gallery. Within the past 3 months the community gallery has only been used by 2.7% of the player base and has been fueled vastly by the "Room of the Day" feature, which will not be going away.
Room of the Day
Room of the Day was introduced last year as a way to give players a daily prompt as an idea for a decorating direction. In order to get credit for the room of the day, players needed to upload their room to the community gallery. We're pleased to announce Room of the Day is going to continue to be in Cozy Room Decorator but you will no longer need to upload your room to the community gallery to earn achievements and progress on your weekly goals. Going forward you will only need to save the room locally using the standard 'Save' button.
Save Data
As Lucky Roll servers are going to closing, we will no longer host user save data. However, we don't feel it's okay to not give players an option so we will be implementing Steam's Cloud Saves. We believe for many Steam games this is already the gold standard and we are happy to implement this in our games going forward. Players will not be able to get data off the Lucky Roll server past January 23rd, 2026.
Achievements
The only achievement that relied on any online mechanic was "I'm Famous" which was achieved by uploading a room to the Community Gallery. We are going to retro-actively change this requirement to be "Complete three room challenges in a single week". Players who already received the original achievement will not lose it.
Price Drop
And finally, let's talk about the price drop. Cozy Room Decorator has been out since March 22nd, 2024. This was our first game as a husband-wife game studio. We have learned a lot from this project and the other projects we've worked on during that time and feel it's only right to lower the price of Cozy Room Decorator in 2026. Since we no longer need to pay for servers for the Lucky Roll platform and will no longer have the Community Gallery in Cozy Room Decorator, we are lowering the price from $14.99 USD to $4.99 USD. The soundtrack will also lower in price from $4.99 USD to $1.99 USD.
We believe the new price is more than fair and we want to sincerely thank all the players who purchased the game before the price drop, while there were online features available in game. We hope that players continue to enjoy the game in it's offline mode and share their work in our Discord and in Steam's Community Hub. We truly love seeing how creative everyone can be and the absolute insane rooms that players have managed to create in our little game. Cozy Room Decorator will always be special to us and we hope that can be true for you as well.
We are looking forward to 2026 and beyond at Lucky Roll Studio!
Happy Decorating!
