MateEngine 2.0.0
Thank you so much for using MateEngine, whether it’s the free version on GitHub or the donated version on Steam. I’m so grateful to every single person who supports this little open source project.
Version 2.0.0 is a really big update with lots of love poured into it. It brings new AI chat features, fresh sounds, and cute little cosmetics. All of this only exists because of your feedback. Without you, MateEngine wouldn’t be where it is right now.
And this is only the start. I’ll keep supporting the app in the future whenever you or I come up with new ideas to make it even better.
Right now MateEngine is the strongest 3D desktop mascot on Steam, with full control, tons of settings, custom avatars, custom file formats, modding and more.
Thank you thank you thank you!
AI Updates
Added scrolling for AI conversations. You can now move up and down through the last 50 messages. (This limit ensures performance and keeps MateEngine lightweight.)
Improved AI Chat UI to match the new overall MateEngine design. Messages now smoothly fade in and out when scrolling, creating a cleaner and more modern look.
AI Chat bubbles now feature subtle animations and a gradient fade effect for improved visual appeal.
Updated the Qwen 3 b4 model for greater accuracy in responses.
Local AI received new training data that is more up-to-date and responds more naturally depending on your system prompt.
Fixed flickering/glitching visuals when the AI generates a message bubble. It should now be smooth.
You can now change the system prompt within the Options menu of MateEngine instead of editing the .txt file in LocalLow. The prompt updates immediately, but a restart is recommended.
Animations
Adjusted state transitions to be more lively and smooth.
Simplified some parameters (this should not break any mods).

Steam Workshop
Downloaded Workshop avatars are now instantly available in MateEngine without restarting.
Only model owners can upload. Downloaded Workshop items will not show an "Upload" button to prevent duplicates.
New "Owner" parameter: importing a local VRM/ME file marks you as the owner, allowing uploads.
After uploading a model, the "Upload" button becomes "Update". To update, replace the original file with the new version (same name and path), then hold "Update" for 5 seconds to replace it on Steam Workshop.
