The Godot Engine 4.4 has been released and comes with some long awaited, exciting features!
Also in this release: Bugfixes, Optimizations and preparation for Internationalization and Sword Beach.

Performance

  • No more stuttering during runtime! Shaders are now pre-compiled during loading of a scene, which (mostly) prevents stuttering while exploring the museum.
  • The typewriter effect at the Audio Guide got an overhaul and is now more lightweight
  • Optimized LOD's
  • Optimized obstacle meshes at the Omaha Beach scene
  • Reworked Juno Beach, which resulted in ~5x more fps in some areas

Graphics

  • Lightmaps support now directional data aka normal maps, which results in more detailed objects

Gameplay

  • Added a new scene for first time users, to choose their VR Experience Level and apply some presets accordingly
  • Fixed a bug in Operation Albany, where other paratroopers wouldn't get deleted, after the scene ends. Which caused paratroopers lying around in all other scenes (xD)

Next Stop: Sword Beach
