Dev Diary #3 – A Letter Before the Alpha Test

Hello Wishweavers,

This is the Dev Team of Animula Nook.

It’s been nearly 200 days since we first met on September 24, 2025. Over these past months, we’ve carried your encouragement with us every step of the way. Thank you — truly — for your patience and support.

Since our first reveal, we’ve seen your excitement everywhere. Across our Discord channels and social media comments, messages like “Would love the chance to join the Alpha Test,” “Release date?” and “I can’t wait to play!” kept appearing again and again.

Although we couldn’t share specific dates just yet, your voices never went unheard. Rather than keeping you waiting, we chose to prepare this Alpha Test — not as a final answer, but as a first glimpse.

In this version, we want you to see the early shape of Minietopia, and to feel what life might be like after shrinking down into this tiny world.

Here’s what you’ll be able to experience in the Alpha Test:

① Your Starside Homestead Expands

Beyond the Desktop scene shown in the Official Reveal Trailer, the Balcony will also open in this test. You can build your home on your desk, or step onto the balcony to enjoy planting under open skies — experiencing two different corners of your tiny world.

② The Exploration Journey in Minietopia Begins

The exploration journey across Minietopia begins with Wupa Woods, the first Exploration Ground to open — with select areas available during this Alpha Test. From the Floral Sea sheltered by the Starbloom Towering, to the quiet Wuruville and the slightly more challenging Withered Woods, this marks your first step beyond your homestead and into the wider miniature world. Along the way, you may meet nearly 50 different Minies — the original residents of Minietopia — each waiting to meet you and begin a friendship of their own.

③ Core Life Systems Continue to Take Shape

We’re continuing to expand the core life systems of Minietopia. Beyond construction and planting, you’ll also be able to try cooking, dance, and performance — experiencing the different rhythms of miniature daily life and discovering how these activities weave together into your everyday routine.

④ New Outfits and Furniture Arrive

Over 500 pieces of outfits and furniture will be available in this test. We know many of you care deeply about customization and aesthetics, and we’ve been putting thoughtful care into expanding those options. More details will be shared in the community soon.

As we approach the countdown to launch, we also want to speak honestly.

This will be Animula Nook’s very first external test, and the game is still in an early stage of development. Because of time and team constraints, there are areas that still need further polishing and optimization. If you encounter any of the issues mentioned below, we sincerely appreciate your understanding — and we warmly welcome your feedback. Our dev team is already on standby in Minietopia, ready to jump in if needed.

P.S. Alpha Test slots will be limited in order to maintain overall stability. We’ll be sharing more details about the test schedule and qualification rules in the community soon, so please keep an eye out.

① About the Visual Experience

Creating a believable 3D miniature world requires a significant amount of art and visual development. Blending real-world objects with a convincing tiny-scale perspective — and making that experience feel immersive during gameplay — takes time, iteration, and careful refinement. Some lighting effects and material details you see in this Alpha version will continue to be optimized in future updates.

② About Platform and Visual Settings

This Alpha Test will be available on Steam (PC only). We’ve seen your hopes for other platforms, and they’re carefully noted by our team. To balance realistic lighting with the freedom of construction, this version will include Medium and High quality settings only. Please note that the current build does not represent final visual quality. Optimization and broader platform adaptation will continue as development progresses.

③ About Bug Feedback

You may encounter bugs, performance drops, overheating, crashes, or unclear guidance during the Alpha Test. If that happens, please let us know through the “Bug Report” in the in-game announcement panel. Our team will be actively reviewing reports and working to improve response speed and overall stability.

During the preparation for this Alpha Test, we’ve been carefully collecting your feedback and suggestions across different channels. In light of what’s included in this version, we’d like to respond to a few of the questions we’ve seen most often.

① What is the core gameplay?

Many Wishweavers have asked this directly. At heart, it’s simple — we hope you can experience different emotional slices of life within this miniature world.

Construction lets you build a place of your own. Outfits allow you to express who you are. Exploration, planting, and cooking bring rhythm and variety to everyday moments. And it’s the presence of Minies and friends that makes the world feel truly alive.

Together, these elements form the full experience of life in Minietopia. In this Alpha Test, you’ll be able to unlock that experience for yourself — and we’d truly love to hear how it feels to you.

② What about social features?

Being able to share the experience with others is an essential part of any life sim — but learning to enjoy your own company matters just as much.

In this Alpha Test, multiplayer will be available, including visiting friends’ homesteads, teaming up in Exploration Grounds, and taking part in group dance or performance activities.

At the same time, features such as visit permissions for your Starside Homestead are designed to give Wishweavers enough personal space. Social interaction is never forced — you can choose when to open your door, and when to keep the moment to yourself.

③ And Minies?

To us, Minies are first and foremost neighbors and companions in this world. They are the carriers of its stories and life systems, and your relationship with them is one of equal friendship.

Each Minie is an individual, with their own personality, preferences, favorite foods, colors, styles, and social circles.

As you live in Minietopia, they’ll stay by your side through everyday moments. They might sit nearby and listen while you perform, cheering you on. When you change into a new OOTD, they may compliment your sense of style. And when you bake a sweet, fragrant cake, don’t forget to share a slice with them.

As we reach the final lines of this letter, we’re reminded of that late night — when, after hours of talking about childhood dreams, the idea of Animula Nook truly began to take shape.

“We wanted to create a game that offers a gentle refuge — a space to slow down, recharge, and rediscover delight in the small and meaningful details of everyday life.”

“And we thought: what better starting point than your own desk — the place you see every day — becoming the gateway into a miniature world of your own?”

Those dreams we once imagined while sitting at our desks still glow softly in memory.

This Alpha Test is our first sketch — the first draft of a dream we’ve spent nearly two hundred days shaping together as a team. It may not be perfect. But it has been drawn with care.

It is Minietopia’s very first invitation to the Wishweavers who have waited so patiently — an invitation to move in, explore, and begin building this tiny world alongside us.

We’ve always believed that the smallest things tell the biggest stories.

This little world may not be complete yet, but it is built with love and care. Step by step, patch by patch, we will continue shaping it into a place where Wishweavers and Minies can live freely, comfortably and feel at home.

Thank you again for your patience, your encouragement, and your trust.

We’ll be waiting for you in Minietopia.
