Hello Survivors,
This update outlines the core gameplay systems currently implemented and in active testing in Evolution of the Ancients.
The goal remains consistent:
You don’t play a dinosaur - you survive as one.
Growth is fully implemented and mechanically active.
As your dinosaur survives, its skeletal mesh and collision scale and combat parameters scale over time. This directly impacts:
Sprint acceleration curves and stamina drain
Attack reach and hit detection range
Multiplayer visibility and threat presence
Larger dinosaurs feel heavier, commit harder to movement, and control space differently in combat.
The system is currently undergoing pacing and balance refinement to ensure growth feels earned without stalling progression.
Armor crafting is live in testing.
Armor pieces are crafted using harvested materials from defeated enemies and world resources.
Armor currently modifies dinosaur’s capabilities:
Increased physical protection against incoming damage
Enhanced combat strength in direct engagements
Balance passes are ongoing to prevent armor from overpowering base survival mechanics.
Nests serve as persistent survival points within the multiplayer map.
They:
Establish territorial presence
Influence player movement routes
Prepare the framework for breeding and lineage systems
This system is expanding alongside breeding progression.
Current priorities before Early Access include:
Completing full dinosaur soundscape system
Refining survival balance and growth pacing
Finalizing breeding and lineage loop progression
Expanding territory mechanics
Ongoing Multiplayer optimization
All systems are being iterated in live testing.
Upcoming updates will detail:
Territory bonuses and control rules
Breeding mechanics and generational traits
Additional playable dinosaurs
Each system will be detailed as it reaches stable implementation.
Early Access is planned once the full survival loop - growth, combat, territory, and lineage - is cohesive and consistently playable.
Wishlist to follow development and be ready at launch.
We are currently evaluating:
Should territory grant mechanical bonuses or remain strategic only?
How punishing should nest destruction be?
Should lineage traits persist permanently or reset per life?
Your feedback will influence implementation..
