Hello everyone! 🐸
Our community Bestiary Writing Contest is in full swing, and there's just one week left to enter. If you've been meaning to write something for the Codex, now's the perfect time!
We want your short stories to bring the dungeon's creatures, relics, and legends to life. Some of them would have a chance to be featured in the upcoming Bestiary section for the Codex!
- 🐉 Enemy Sheet Mode (~100 words): Pick an existing enemy and write a bite-sized entry: name, habitat, quirks, trivia, hidden lore… anything in-universe!
- 🌍 Free Mode (~500 words): A short story set anywhere in the Die in the Dungeon universe: dice, relics, companions, myths, you name it.
Here's an example from the depths of the amphibian archives:
"Poblanos thrive in the damp corners of the dungeon, whispering indecipherable questions to passersby. When threatened, they…"
To participate, choose a mode (or do both!), write your story and post it in our discord. And while you're there, don't forget to upvote the stories you like the most!

Not sure what to write? Here's a few prompts coming directly from the devs:
- A gem of craftsmanship: the Hollow Dice.
- Rules for a dice duel between frogs.
- A page from Mango's diary.
- Queen Bee: morphology and hierarchy.
- Shopkeeper's day out: ingredients for a new potion.
- Study on dice shape and the forbidden material.
These are only suggestions, we encourage everyone to came up with their own original stories. A clever idea or funny angle can work as well!
