Hey everyone,

We owe you an honest update - and an apology.

A few days ago we announced a new direction for this game under the name Pirates Redemption, with a comic book art style and a shift in focus. Your response was loud and clear, and you know what? You were right.

We got carried away. Sometimes creative ambition pulls you off the map, and that's what happened here. The comic art concept was something we were genuinely excited about, but it's not what you signed up for - and it's not what Pirates Republic was supposed to be. That concept will live on as a separate project down the road. But right now, our priority is clear.

Pirates Republic is back. The original vision. The game you wishlisted.

We've updated the store page to reflect where we're heading - back to the open-world survival sandbox set in the historical Caribbean, 1714. No fantasy, no magic, no cell shading. Just history, grit, and the freedom to build your pirate legend from nothing.

Here's what's already built and what we're coming back to:

  • Full character creation system
  • Survival mechanics with cooking, food preparation, nutritional states and buffs
  • A procedurally generated world with randomized points of interest
  • Freeform building system for your settlement
  • Ship construction and management with over 500 possible hull/mast/deck combinations
  • Dozens of weapon types for both naval and personal combat
  • Melee combat with swords, axes, and improvised weapons
  • Ranged combat with flintlock pistols and muskets
  • And a lot more under the hood

We're showing the project in the state it was in when we had to freeze development on this direction. Now we'll be updating it with everything we worked on in the meantime - including significantly improved land and naval combat - and getting back to full speed.

If we push hard, and we will, we think it won't be long before we can invite you to an alpha build. We'll keep you posted every step of the way.

We're sorry for the confusion. Thank you for being direct with us - it's what brought us back on course. Pirates Republic is alive, and you can check out what we've been building on the updated store page.

Screenshots from the current build are on the store page and below.

Fair winds,
Raccoons Studio

Community12 Aug 2026Devlog #4: Over the RailHi everyone! The most important thing first: our Community Alpha is about to start. It comes later than we told you it would, and we are sorry for the wait. Get on the Discord so you can have a shot at testing the alpha. This one covers a lot of ground. The game has a new opening, you can board an enemy ship instead of sinking it, the building system was rebuilt from the sockets up, and the set…Community19 Jul 2026Devlog #3: Full SailDevlog #3: Full Sail Hi everyone! Two things matter most this time. The sea got a proper rebuild, and our first Community Alpha, a small closed test, is about to start. The last two weeks went into the kind of groundwork this genre runs on, so we will keep the rest brief. The Sea, Rebuilt We tore into the ocean, and it shows. Waves break on the beach now, foam gathers along the shoreline, and a…Community27 Jun 2026Devlog #2: The Island Comes AliveDevlog #2: The Island Comes Alive Hi everyone! We’re back with more. Over the course of last month, we have made the islands inhabited and made the survival systems talk to each other, so that hunger, stamina, food, wildlife and your base all push and pull on one another while you play. Animals roam the islands, castaways join your base, and you can crew a boat and sail it into open water. Here…
