Besmirch is coming full circle!

This update has finally closed the loop. Ever since this games advent, I've been planning on making a farming game with real consequences and incentives/decentives to your work as a farmer. Many farming games lack a core reason to ever plant and grow crops. For the longest time, Besmirch lacked a real incentive as well.

Now however, there is starvation!

Instead of NPC's dying, they become "depraved". Acting odd in the town square and attacking on sight.

To keep them full, you'll need to grow crops and cook satiating recipes.

Also, Cooking system has had a major face lift too! There is more to come, but this should give a better idea of what is expected with cooking.

Also, there's a bad ending...

Oh! and a notice board for quests and lore...

A lot added!

Changes:

  1. Starving NPC's.

  2. NPC depraved states causing hostility.

  3. Food now has a "Supply Value" some dishes are more valuable to the town supply.

  4. Supply Screen now starts earlier/has multiple ways of becoming the town supplier.

  5. New Recipe GUI page.

  6. Learnable Recipes.

  7. Guided cooking experience.

  8. draggable/minimizable Quest GUI.

  9. A bad ending cutscene.

  10. Town Notice Board.

Bug Fixes:

  1. Clicking on Tables/Chests not possible when fighting now. As to avoid unexpected UI opening

  2. Removed some buggy pixel fonts

  3. Fixed player coming out of dungeon position

  4. Frozen rain was still happening

  5. Spy crow was not standing on perch

  6. Font positions fixed in some cases (Quests, Dialogue, etc)

  7. Grammatical errors from little npc's

  8. Little Girl (Agatha) was around after Beet Festival, fixed.

  9. Fixed a bug where you could infinitely go back to beet festival if you didn't sleep at night.

  10. Removed some unnecessary notes

  11. NPC social states weren't saving correctly.

  12. The Mayor had disappeared for a long time, due to a bug. Now the Mayor wanders the town.

  13. The Baron had also disappeared. I wonder what those two were up doing...

  14. Quest Overlay had some issues, still does, but it's getting better.

  15. A ton of small bugs not worth mentioning.

What's next:

  1. Better controller support.

  2. Better button descriptions.

  3. Overall more sound effects.

  4. A couple small world events on Week 2 of gameplay.

  5. More animations for cooking screen, as to better indicate what needs to be done

  6. Better combat against depraved NPC's

  7. Perhaps a new Title Screen, the old one was outdated.

Things are starting to slow down on the demo updates. I am planning on ramping up full game updates. I will still try to keep the Demo up to date and let you guys know what's happening.

However, I will be focusing on fleshing out a full game and only focus on new features that are truly needed to deliver a great experience.

As well as pump up the awesome features that I have already added!

I always appreciate as much feedback as I can get. So let me know what you would like to see changed or added to our project.

Thanks everyone!

Community10 Sep 2026Thursday Update #10I made an "unstable" co-op/multiplayer branch! Exactly what it sounds like! there is definitely a lot of things that will need to be fixed. If you change your game to the "unstable" branch, you can test out the recent changes to multiplayer. Everything should be "Playable" up until winter.
