Hello folks,
as requested by some of you we are going to share more about the development of the game here on Steam. I hope to do this in longer form posts that share a fair chunk of the game at a time. Please let me know in the comments if you enjoy this format.
Today we are going to focus on the Rulers of Dice Legacy.
The game features 6 rulers of which 5 are unlockable. Each ruler has different starting dice as well as a different Wager Ability, which triggers upon rolling a specific combination of faces.
The Stranded King
The first ruler, and the one you will start the game with, is The Stranded King.
Washed up on Dice Legacy's mysterious ringworld, with no memory of the past, he was made into a King by Fate.
His Wager Ability treats all frozen Peasants at the expense of their durability.
The Flail
Next, The Flail. A cruel but resolute tactician. Carefully observing the enemies of the crown, and the crown itself.
His Wager Ability empowers all wounded dice in your pool.
The Foul
From the shadows, The Foul. A baron who trades in secrets.. and the royal secrets are the most valuable.
His Wager Ability allows him to immediately obtain 1 gold for each of your Districts at the expense of the happiness of class that controls them.
The Mad
An alchemist called to assist the King in his cause and in doing so he found a convenient avenue to quench his insatiable desire for knowledge.
His Wager Ability allows him to obtain 1 Knowledge point for each different negative effect currently present in your pool.
The Incarnate
A young lady who survived the shipwreck and was found to possess inexplicable talents. A manifestation of the Old Goddess, some say.
Her Wager Ability allows her to immediately resolve every threat currently active.
The more observant among you may have noticed that I have omitted one ruler. Aside from bringing new and interesting possibilities and variants, the Rulers are also a chance to explore some of the lore of Dice Legacy.
We tried to tell a story through mechanics, descriptions, architectures and prompts that rewards those who want to explore it. The game doesn't hit you in the head with it. It's there for you to discover. And I really hope you will enjoy it.
