I hope everyone had a good Christmas/New Years! I took some time off myself and rather than diving headfirst back into dungeons I wrapped up what I was working on and spent some time tackling bugs. After this update I might start on the final changes for Dungeons that are harder to come back from so it might be a while before the next one lands. This is also because my personal life has become pretty busy since I'm currently trying to buy a car as well as hunt for some contract work so I'm finding less time to work on Aiyana.

Grid Snapping

One of the things I've been battling with dungeons is the blocky vs natural aesthetic and decided that they do need a more natural touch at times. To address this I've had to overhaul how some of the blocks place. Firstly instead of snapping to a grid based on the objects size, which always keeps things neatly within a block, things can now snap to a 10x10 grid. Finally, some objects can now be scaled and rotated with much more detail than before.

This picture doesn't really do the systems justice but it shows you can now place things much more naturally. So if you want a huge or a tiny chair, it can accomodate that. These systems are only applied to a few decorative blocks currently but I'll add it to more blocks over time where it makes sense to do so.I wont add snapping etc to large blocks like tables and beds yet because their logic is more complex spanning multiple blocks but I'll consider them in the future.Currently its applied to: vines, reeds, pots, scales, scroll, inkwell, mushrooms, cup, crate, barrel, chairs, stools, buckets.

Bugs Fixes & Changes

  • Fixed hanging magical braziers still playing their looping audio once destroyed

  • Fixed the right click icon not showing for buckets

  • Reduced the volume for the rock volley spells audio

  • Fixed the trees still rendering whilst you are damaging them, which looked a little jarring

  • Fixed the eating prompt appearing even when tutorials area disabled

  • Fixed the one touch spell setting not working for instant cast spells

  • Fixed golems spawned by the treant during challenges still dropping loot and not registering properly as an enemy needed to be defeated

  • Fixed blocks not dropping during challenges when exploding enemies destroy them

  • Fixed treants behaving badly around water when they are forced into it

  • Fixed some of the messaging being wrong whilst rebinding a key. E.G it would say rebound success when it should be giving info on how to rebind keys

  • Fixed the help text for the feedback screen rendering behind some of the other elements in that screen

  • Fixed blocks placing flipped when you flipped a different block beforehand

  • Fixed Treants having an odd lighting effect whenever they cast their summoning spell

  • Fixed bushes sometimes losing their visuals for if they have berries/cotton

  • Added a metal bars block

  • Fixed a situation with steps placed backwards that would then send you up blocks like an elevator until you hit air

  • Fixed structure previews not showing snapped blocks in the proper positions

  • Fixed not being able to break blocks whilst holding a structure preview

  • Fixed vines not being able to rotate whilst placing them

  • Disabled collisions on small beams

  • Fixed hay beds having too much emission and glowing brightly at night

  • Fixed doors throwing an error if placed too high in the world

  • Fixed palm sloped railings appearing in the wrong groups of the creative mode UI

  • Updated tree saplings and mushrooms to appear in the flowers and foliage group

  • Fixed Pedestal blocks still rendering after looting them

  • Fixed various swamp foliage blocks not appearing in the foliage group

  • Added snapping/rotating to stools and round stools

  • Fixed double shelves trying to show a tooltip to open that does nothing

  • Fixed pots glowing a lot at night

  • Prevent blocks that snap on a horizontal grid from trying to snap when viewing the side of a block

  • Fixed held tools etc looking far too dark in your hand

Release 0.4.2.7

It turns out my fix for instant casting spells was causing problems with toggled spells. In trying to fix that I decided that having 2 spell cast modes didn't make enough sense to justify it so now the only casting mode is instant casting. This is where pressing 1 when a spell is in the first slot will always cast it instantly.

Major update31 Aug 2026Biomes & Points of InterestIts been a busy month, a little too busy. I was pushing myself hard to try and get multiplayer ready in some early form for the upcoming Survival Fest that Aiyana is a part of but I pushed too hard and needed some time off once I realised I just couldn't hit the deadline. So instead I stopped and focused on what I could get done in time, hence this update a little out of nowhere. Biome Generati…In-game event30 Jul 2026New Wood (Beta & Creative Only)Time seemed to slip away from me again but this update has some changes in it that could do with more time to confirm them so its live on the Beta branch only for now. Multiplayer is still coming along nicely but nothing new to report on it yet. Its just very slow to make progress on, especially as a solo dev. Bamboo, Ebony and Cherry Wood As usual I work on something slightly creative to give…In-game event10 Jul 2026Triangles & Snow ShapesThis one took a little longer than expected and I don't think there was any one particular reason, I just struggled to reach a stable state whilst juggling single player and multiplayer bug fixes. For example I need to compress world data before sending it for MP as players join worlds, something that should have been Extremely straightforward but it turns out off the shelf compression algorith…
