07734 Hackers 🙃💻

Apologies if this message pulled you out of hyperfocus. It is worth it though, we promise!

Today, Net.Attack() officially releases, even though you might have been playing a version of this game since 2024. First as playable prototype "somewhere else on the internet”, then a proper demo exhibited at gaming conventions and eventually published here, and most recently the Early Access version we have been updating meticulously since.

Much has happened during all this time, and – we believe – the final result has been made all the better for it. Without your vigorous playtesting, thoughtful feedback, and direct engagement with developers and other community members, this game would not be the same. So, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much, and please celebrate this release as a shared success with us. We will for sure be lurking on the Community Discord 👀

Enough sentimentality, you want to know the nitty-gritty about this update, don’t you?

What’s New?

  • 6 New Characters (total of 13)

  • 9 Supported Languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, traditional and simplified Chinese, Korean, and Japanese

  • Completely overhauled Tutorial & Bootcamp

  • In-game Documentation with Deeper Insight into Game Mechanics

  • A Node Collection screen to quickly View All Unlocks

  • 32 New Achievements (total of 56)

New Characters

COSTAR
The resident AoE champion. Use your VoidBomb to pull enemies together for maximum damage.

BEAR
Enemies will regret hitting this one. Heal yourself when attacked and make them feel the pain instead.

DrGlas
Turn Net.Attack into a Tower Defense game. Place powerful mines and stay inside your circle of protection.

P3RLA
Makes Collectables go boom. Take enemies by surprise and turn whatever you can find on the ground into explosives.

JOVII
Hungry for chips. Extract as many as you can and build upon that newly gained strength.

LOLO
Bugs are just another feature in her book. You have to learn working with rather than against these buggy nodes.

Additional Languages

French, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese are available in-game languages now!

Overhauled Tutorial & Bootcamp

One of the biggest challenges with a game as unique and stylized as Net.Attack() was always going to be player onboarding.

Based on our observations during Early Access, we basically re-did the Tutorial from scratch. To give beginner coders the best possible introduction to the concept of visually programming your attacks, explanations are now part of the game flow.

For the more intermediate hackers we also addressed the Bootcamp missions to add more variety and teach complex strategies in a fun way.

Documentation

Just like you are (in most cases) used to from other software, Net.Attack() now offers a referenceable in-game Documentation of its game mechanics. This feature extends the already present tooltips which give you context on unfamiliar words and actions.

The game wiki remains public alongside this addition, in case you want to add to our explanations yourself and help those who code after.

Node Collection

Ever wondered whether you have already seen the whole extend of the 190+ nodes available? Rather than taking notes yourself or Linux forbid, relying on short term memory, you now have access to a visual overview.

Without spoiling everything, see a snippet of what awaits you below:

More Achievements

You asked and we delivered: 32 additional goals to reach for the achievement hunters among you 🏅

Other Changes

  • Nodes left unconnected now trigger a warning ⚠️

  • RunSummary shows unlock progress and more stats

  • Capacitor waves have been improved

  • DarkMarket items are available in steps

  • Close buttons have been partially relocated

  • NodePorts have been reorganized

  • Balancing for nodes and progression

  • Sound effects have been reworked 🔊

  • VFX for nodes and UI have been added

  • Further performance optimizations

  • Bugfixes

  • Naming changes: ШFiles → DarkBits#, Heal → Recover

What are you waiting for? Log in and cause some havoc. We can’t wait to see screenshots of your new builds on Discord as always.

Signed electronically,
Your Net.Attack() Team
