By day, they till fields, chop wood, mine stone, and haul resources back to town, quietly keeping the lifeblood of your settlement flowing. Every wall segment, tower, weapon, and prosthetic limb exists because someone planted crops, smelted ore, or worked the forge instead of standing on the front line. You’ll learn their routines, assign their jobs, and build your entire strategy on the backs of these ordinary people just trying to survive another day beneath an alien sky.
But when dusk settles and the battle horn echoes across the settlement, those same villagers drop their tools, grab their gear, and sprint for the walls. The farmer you relied on for food becomes a shieldbearer at the gate. The blacksmith who spent the day crafting iron weapons now swings one from the battlements. Your choices in the daylight directly affect who’s ready to stand and fight once the night’s onslaught begins.
It’s up to you to decide who stays in the fields a little longer and who must be pulled off vital production to answer the horn. A short-handed wall might fall, but an empty granary means starvation down the line. In Stoneguard, every villager wears two faces, worker and warrior.
