Organ Quarter post-release roadmap

Thank you to everyone who has bought Organ Quarter and supported us throughout development!

Today we share our plans for the game moving forward. This is a simple road map of several months’ FREE content updates and quality of life improvements.

The updates to follow in coming days, weeks and months will include:

  1. Multiple hotfixes and bug fixes
  2. The Organ Quarter Soundtrack as optional DLC (on Steam and Bandcamp)
  3. A substantial Quality of Life update (better menus and options, more detail in environments, more control options and gameplay options)
  4. The Non-VR Update (which will provide non-VR players with a monitor-friendly build for the game)

#1 Multiple hotfixes and bugfixes

These smaller updates will be rolled out consistently as we gather reports from you (the players) prioritise the most serious issues and address them.

We are already aware of several minor issues in the game which will be addressed ASAP. Our highest priorities are:

  1. The ‘Left handed’ control option for Oculus Touch users doesn’t work
  2. When you enter and leave a TV, the stamps on your map often will be erased
  3. (Minor location spoilers from halfway through the game:) Once you insert a battery into the large battery-powered gates in the Mines, they will change state whenever you re-enter the room. Meaning if you insert a battery the gate will open, but then if you leave the room and re-enter, the gate will close. To fix this you can simply leave the room and re-enter

#2 The Organ Quarter Soundtrack

We are incredibly proud of Anadale’s work on the Organ Quarter soundtrack so will be releasing the 40+ track soundtrack as paid DLC for Organ Quarter and separately on Bandcamp.com.

#3 The Quality of Life update

This substantial update will be released between now and Christmas. We are targetting 31 November. Our current plans for the QoL update include:

  • New optional environments and secrets
  • Improved environments throughout: better textures, better lighting, better blending, more miscellaneous objects
  • Improved VR interactions throughout: interactive appliances, furniture, miscellaneous objects
  • New control options (click-in movement for Vive, among others)
  • The ability to scroll through previously used/collected maps
  • The ability to look at previously seen side texts

These are liable to change and other unannounced improvements may be included.

#4 The Non-VR Update

Depending on complexity of task, this will follow between December 2017 and February 2018.

This will be a build of Organ Quarter which functions on a normal monitor without a VR HMD system.

This will be a drastically different experience from the current (ground-up VR) version. Controls, interfaces, puzzles, enemies and level designs are likely to change to account for the lack of hand-tracked controllers.

Stay tuned for more news,
