We are pleased to announce that version 2.0.10 of the Shoot 'Em Up Kit has been released. This new version contains lots of new features, bug fixes and improvements. One major new feature is object replacement and cloning, which we will be expanding upon to create template games.

The release notes are as follows:
Version 2.0.10

  • Entities in a level can be easily replaced by selecting the Entity and pressing the key.
  • Map Items may be cloned so that they share everything except Name, Position, Rotation and Scale. Use the button or hold down when pasting to create a cloned item.
  • Improved the snap-to-grid functionality.
  • Added rotation snapping to constrain rotations to 45 degree intervals.
  • Added Snap-to-object functionality.
  • Added more key options for player input controls.
  • Displaying the grid will use the currently selected object as the centre point for the grid.
  • Deleted games or projects will no longer appear in the menu. They used to appear as blank icons.
  • Bullets now use their Health value. In previous version bullets would always be destroyed when they hit an object.
  • LostLife and GameOver modes are only triggered once all Players lose their lives.
  • Fixed an issue that would cause entities to play damage effects at the start of a level if their initial health was below 100.
  • Bullets now play Effects when they are damaged or destroyed.
  • Fixed a rare issue with particle rotations not conforming to their parent object.
  • Object entities now correctly respond to physics events.
  • Checkboxes now display help text when hovering the mouse pointer over them.
  • Backgrounds with a Movement Type of 'Scroll' are positioned so that they will scroll across their entire length rather than starting at the centre of the screen.
  • Improved support for multiple players. If there are multiple player entities then each player will respawn after losing a life.
  • Added support for multiple controllers.
  • Keyboard controls can be used when Xbox Controller scheme selected.
  • Fixed potential crash with weapon upgrades.
  • Fixed an issue that loaded the wrong shader after selecting from the Material pane's shader list.

We have made a lot of changes to the editor ‘behind the scenes’ and our next update will include a lot more options to make game creation simpler and more intuitive without compromising the depth of options. We have also made a lot of progress with the DirectX 11 engine and multi-platform support.
We are also continuing to improve the documentation and create more tutorial videos.

Thank you for all your support.
