Hey there, cozy folks! Welcome to Cook For Love’s Devlog #2 – Concept and Inspiration, where we will dive into where the game started and what direction it’s going during its development. We also have some news for everyone who wants to try out Cook For Love before its release 👀✨ Buckle up, buckaroos!
Lovers of puzzle games have already recognized the style of Tell Me Your Story – the previous game from our dev team. Though related via their shared universe and characters, Cook For Love can be played without any knowledge of Tell Me Your Story’s plot. Built upon the same art and cozy vibes as TMYS, Cook For Love puts a culinary spin and takes some of the most enjoyable aspects of food-related puzzles to a new level. Of cooking, that is 🍲
Drawing the cozy essence from Tell Me Your Story was key to making a style-coherent game that would continue the theme of stress-free puzzles - though the gameplay is a lot different. The cooking part is much more free and straightforward with a recipe ready for whenever you need a hint.
Cook For Love was inspired by Cooking Mama (ah the art of cooking 🍝), A Little to the Left (as its predecessor 🧩), and Overcooked, but without elements related to time pressure.
Many of the above titles are already known to cooking (and puzzle) game enthusiasts, so Cook For Love is meant to ease the players into a cozy atmosphere while drawing on those concepts.
One of the main focuses was also the delicious presentation of all the dishes 😋 There will be a separate devlog that will say more about the dish choice and different, cooking-related topics that had an impact on the game’s process.
