KEY UPDATES:

Help & Learn Center: Previously the encyclopedia, the new Help & Learn Center has been updated with a brand new interface complete with information on the game’s components, defences, and pathogens. There’s also a new link to the Steam community page for helpful tips and strategies!

Components: We’ve changed the description for some components and added others while squashing a few spelling bugs.

Defences: Each of the defences now have a new section on their mechanics, as well as some helpful strategies for optimal use.

Pathogens: Know your enemies better with more information about their biological impact, game mechanics, and strategies to defeat them.

Tips: Stuck on a wave? Can’t maintain homeostasis? Check out this new section for some quick tips for overcoming those difficult moments!

Ask community: Whether you’re an experienced strategist or novice defender, click here to access LOTE’s Steam community page for advice, victory laps, or niche techniques!

Game Stats: In-game statistics now include new values for cell health and ATP management.

Options: Optimize your experience with new settings such as display resolution, refresh rate, and window modes. If you’re running a Mac, expect a dramatic graphical improvement!

Leaderboards: Time to up your game. The new Leaderboards offer you a chance to compete with other Steam users on fastest level times, longest times at homeostasis, lowest membrane damage, and the most ATP generated!

Study update: We are currently conducting an SSHRC-funded study with first-year biology students of the learning impacts of this game. After a successful pilot study, we are further exploring how students learn with our game with the help of Unity Analytics. Participants in the study are currently limited to students of MacEwan University, but if you wish to contribute, please contact the development team’s Project Leaders.

A big thank you to the community of general players for feedback on our first release of LOTE.

We hope you enjoy this update!
