THANK YOU

First off: A huge thank you to everyone who got this game!!
We are overwhelmed by how positive the overall response was in this first week.

There has been a lot of feedback and we are working hard to fix and improve the things you found to be lacking.

This small patch is a first round of quick fixes to repair critical flaws and add easy to implement changes but there will be bigger changes coming in the future.

You can check out this overview of changes on Trello:
https://trello.com/b/qIpdiSlC/midnight-ride-bug-tracker

Here are the patch notes for 1.0.3.0:

  • F12 Screenshot:
The Steam Overlay Screenshot feature has been fixed and should work properly now.
  • Launch Issues:
Many reported launch problems with our (and others) Steam build but there is only so much we can do on our end. We flipped a few switches that hopefully help those who had launch issues so far.
  • UI Scaling issues:
We adjusted the way graphics setting changes are applied that should prevent you from scaling the UI beyond your displays capabilities.
  • UI Reset button:
In addition to the adjusted settings there is now a reset button at the main menu, top left corner, which will reset the UI back to stock settings.
You can also press the DEL key on your keyboard while in the main menu to reset the UI if you can't see the button.
  • Skip speed:
Apparently for some of you, the skipping was not fast enough so we enhanced the feature and you now can skip dialogue at a speed of up to 30 blocks a second!
(This is just a stopgap fix until the more refined dialogue handling is implemented later)
  • Spacebar to advance:
Another addition is the Spacebar. It will do the exact same as the left mousebutton during dialogues. (Another stopgap fix until the remappable keys are implemented)
  • more minor fixes:
    - reduced the jittering of the "hovering" effect when positioning the mouse at the outmost border of a button
    - fixed an exploit that lets the user input invalid values into the settings.ini, crashing the game.
    - minor script and grammar/language errors

And now? What's next?

Well we are glad you asked!
There have been a few requests for things that will need a bit more effort to implement from our side but we are listening to you and will do our best to make things happen!

Among the most requested features was Steam Tradingcards and we are glad to announce that they will be coming with the next big patch.

Another highly requested feature was sound. We did not anticipate the passion people would have towards non-existing sound and that it would lead to that many negative reviews.
That said, we will look into this and add something in the future. Just please don't expect full voice over in a small 5$ project like ours!

So that's it?

... you might be wondering and the answer is: NO
We are planning to make the game Steam Workshop compatible so it will be easier to add more language translations to it. That will require some effort from our side first and we are already working on it.

In addition we already laid plans for the first content expansion to add more paths to the story.
Just so you know this will be paid DLC content so you won't get surprised in the future.
But there is also plans for free content additions down the line.

So there you have it, that's it from our side for now.
Stay tuned for more and thank you again for this awesome first week!
